Chapter Sixteen A heat shimmer hung over the spaceport landing pad. Jas squinted in the glaring sunlight at the cargo bay. They’d parked the truck a little way down the road. Jas wished she had some binoculars to see more detail. Then she remembered the weapons they’d brought from Erielle’s place. She dug into the bag and pulled out an old-fashioned rifle with a sight. Peering through the crosshairs, she could see close up the perimeter fence around the spaceport, the massive shuttle hangars, the passenger buildings, and the warehouse that stored the cargo waiting to be loaded onto flights or ready for pickup.
