Chapter Seventeen
Whoops and hollers filled the cab as they sped from the spaceport. As soon as they were a safe distance away, they stopped the truck and opened the box. Inside they found exactly what they’d hoped for. They’d done it. They’d stolen a scanner. Sayen and Ozment helped Erielle into the cab and they set off once more. Jas leaned back in her seat, and for the first time in days, she relaxed.
They still had to capture a Shadow, and that wouldn’t be easy, but they were much further along with their plan than they had been only a day previously.
Ozment was driving with a huge grin on his face.
“You seem pretty pleased with yourself,” she said to him.
