That afternoon the campus held a big charity event on the indoor basketball court. Students had set up small booths to sell unused belongings and donate the money. I decided to join in too. I brought some clothes, accessories, and a few old books I no longer needed. Anything that could help raise a little money felt worth it.
I stood behind my small table, arranging the items neatly and smiling at anyone who stopped by. Business was slow, but I didn’t mind. At least I was doing something good. I had just finished helping a girl pick out a pair of earrings when I looked up and saw them.
