Episode Twenty

AADYA I plowed my course off the pond "Why did you send me to the hidden?" The question was drawn out from the depth of my soul the instant I arrived before the warlock. "What was the true reason?" I re-asked, pushing to uphold the burning wrath that was stretching to materialize. "How shallow you are for such a great destiny. Perhaps it is your destiny to change whatever you have seen" The old warlock uttered calmly like it was the most appropriate response. "You should have made known to me what it is you learn rather than coercing me to confront my past, to be haunted by them, only to be endowed with a horrifying fate" I let out not minding how freezing the cold air wrapped around me. "There's a darkness coming. Darkness, that will take everything-" "Do not convey more riddles!" I slashed, "I know nothing about the coming darkness, give me a straight answer, warlock" I did not simply have those bizarre experiences to be told some riddles. "A ruthless conqueror would seek that which you have. His appetite for power and immortality is so great that the whole world trembles. The last hope, is an ancient prophesy that tells of one with the power that could unleash hell on the world, but that same one can only defeat the coming darkness. You have those powers, Aadya" He finally declared. My eyes flickered to Lady Harmonia the moment her voice arose "If you join forces with this ruthless conqueror the whole world would crumble. That you need to know" With no other word to them both, I shoved myself out of their presence, through the stairways, and away from any form of them both. It's been several days since my dialogue with Ambrose and Lady Harmonia herself, though I was yet not willing to confide what I had foreseen. Spending nearly all of my period out here near the ocean had become my recent habit of defecting from the rest and succumbing to my deepest thoughts. In my line of vision stood the endless stretch of the sea, the shore was shaped like a shepherd's hook of black. Rollers of gem-blue dashed the near-black sand casting white shades while the air was crammed with the smell of salt. I stayed silently watched as the waves returned to break gently into white foam on the black shore. The small crystals in the sand glint and shimmer luminously against the sun's rays. As I sat on the black grains of sand, I looked up at the brilliant sky, adorned with flashes of blue, orange, and white, mirroring the colours of a flawlessly seasoned. The goddess-like sun’s face was being embraced by the demure navy fingertips of the skyline. The dull light of the sun somehow manages to k****e my senses in a way I had never seen or felt before. Everything felt like it came to a standstill. The seagulls ride with the wind and the soft sand buffers my toes. My hands were buried in the black sand. I exhaled deeply and suddenly a voice from behind caused me to quickly turn. “OI! Have you seen the state you're in?” Cian let out unraveling a glimpse of an amused expression. “Ah—- it just happens,” I say watching as he settles beside me. And softly he says “You appear consumed again” Those eyes studied my expression, and although I made an effort to conceal my emotions they were still vivid to him. “I can help take them away, perhaps for a while” He offered and I shook my head in response. I had stumbled upon him the night I retired from the pond, with the state I was in, he proposed to aid ease whatever I was feeling at the moment, though it helped, it was only for some beat. And ever since then he has been helpful one way or the other, trying to keep me occupied to set loose from my thoughts. I am yet to know the young maiden from the vision, though alone, I had searched the entire castle looking for her or someone similar and yet, I still came to a dead end. The sole mortal from the prophecy isn't me but the young lass. “I don't know what's wrong with me,” I told Cian. “I tried so hard, but...” “I know the feeling. Why do you think I came all this way?” He said and sank back, laying onto the sand, his wavy ombre gold hair messing with the black sand, he appeared to have no care in the world, that's his nature, more like a devil-may-care outlook. Though I have come to apprehend that he has always been that way. “I was nine and I saw this scary monster who looks like me,” He said using his right palm to block the sun ray. “Never be ashamed of what you are, and never fear what you see” His words were sincere and reassuring, I took a moment to put my life on hold and gaze at what nature had to offer to me. The clear sky didn’t have a single cloud that block the rays of the radiant sun. I could sense the feeling of ultra relaxation from the outstretched deep blue canopy above and the penetrating warmth that emanated from the sky and wrapped around my skin like a warm cloak. “Besides if you can't summon the courage to win what you have foreseen for a fear I know not... What will you do when the time suddenly comes?” His gaze yet focused on the bright sky, with both hands now mashed on the sand beneath his head. I just leaned back with both hands digging behind me into the black sand as my eyes traveled at the continuous spread before us. “I've been shown with a fate not much clear... Yet I fear them” “Destiny has many faces, Aadya. Mine, for example, might be stunning on the outside, but... Ugly on the inside. All will be well, soon. You just need a little more time to understand your purpose” “What I saw... The evil I have foreseen... It was, it was unimaginable... Not like any evil I had witnessed before” “Evil is evil, Aadya. Lesser, middling... Greater... It's all the same. Just do what you think you need to do, I won't condemn you. I haven't only done good in my life either. If you think by doing evil you could save the ones you cherish, then so be it, it is you who can choose your own part, you don't only need to follow what you have foreseen” I looked up to the sky, the goddess-like sun’s face now being embraced by the demure navy fingertips of the skyline. In the end, I laid back just like Cian, the image of the young lass flashing through my mind, she looked nearly seventh. Who could she be? “You ought to see the old sorcerer... You haven't gone to meet him in a while now, the old man is worried. I haven't seen him this disturbed before. What it is you might have forecast that troubled him so greatly?” “The prediction of some prophecy, one which they had believed was me, though proved to be beyond” I simply conveyed. Cian turned slightly, staring at me. The corner of his eyes crinkled, it was the first time I witness such an expression from him. “What prophecy?” To me, he ought to know more about the prophecy since he had lived most of his life in the coven, yet the subtle chaos in his eyes was enough to tell otherwise. “One, of a maiden that has the power to unleash darkness upon the world... And only she can save the world from the coming darkness” I represented. And he seems to strangely relax a bit. He looked heavenward. Humans always got something pushing through their minds, nevertheless, I have come to realize that Cian is just a better thespian at concealing them. “The prophecy has existed for long now, thought to not come through. It only means one thing why you had to foresee it again...” I stared solely at him “... You would be in the midst of it all” I have no conception if his utterances were presumed to be resolving or alarming, nonetheless, they were quite the truth. Something must have happened to me to have such a reaction from the male in those visions to be scouring and calling out for me, I do want to find out if Lady Harmonia might in any way know the fella, though, still, I do not want to unveil those images until I discover who the maiden was. “That might be the reason you had miraculously found out how to command your powers all of a sudden” He uttered, conveying me back to reality. Finding out I had once been able to control my powers, all the memories, strangely everything came to be straightforward, and somehow I seem to know who I am and what my purpose was. It is my destiny to protect this maiden I know not, and for that, her illustration won't depart my lips. “Conceivably because I had never stopped using them” My grandmother, mother’s momma never took those powers away, she only sealed my memories of ever employing them and made me vow never to use them until it was ought to. That one pledge I had not recalled up until my encounter days back, and that harbored the ultimate reason why I couldn't massively use my powers. The resurfacing of these memories brought back everything I omit and now just like in the past, I'm one with them. We lay there in the open staring upward, soon the sun began to set showing me strikingly that beauty runs from the ends of the world. I felt relaxed as I watch the process of life, the darkness overwhelming the sky seems to portray that the earth is closing its eyes to rest in preparation for the next day. Cian was silent, might be lost in his own thoughts. “We need to head back to the coven” “Why? What is the matter?” I lifted my back from the sand when he suddenly rise to his feet. “Lady Harmonia needs us to return. Her message was passive, and seemed urgent”
