AADYA
The past couple of days has been discipline and control. Mastering my abilities has been a bit arduous, to say the least, nonetheless, I'm determined to convey my best in my pursuit to unravel my fate. Summoning the fire commands was gradually coming to be effortless although controlling them is what seems to be a major concern. The old warlock had mentioned that my powers will take time to correctly master and control them, that there was nothing to be worried about, still, I see myself in the shadow of the night trying my possible best to concentrate on them.
"Though your primary ability is fire, strong, ferocious and hot. Burn the plains, scatter the ash, scorch the air, and envelope everything in an internal blaze. Crimson mystical flames that never go out. As indistinguishable as an everlasting sun. You yet emboldened many others, once you master the primary, others won't be a problem" Ambrose revealed. He had taken out a book from the shelf and handed it to me.
"Control, discipline, and restraint are extremely important. Unconscious, emotion-influenced, impulsive, or reckless use of your power can be catastrophic" He proclaimed firmly "The distance, mass, precision your abilities could reach depend upon your knowledge, skill, and strength. And your kind of powers often drains a person's stamina.
Naturally, stronger magic puts a much greater strain"
Thereupon I settled at my usual spot outside the walls of the coven in the pall of the night rehearsing the spells I had memorized from the spell book, solely, not until a bright light stretched out from a window a bit far length away. My curiosity led me back into the castle, I began waving my way through the series of stairways and hallways until I was standing at the entrance of the room.
The light's ferocious stretch had already weakened by the time I arrived at the door. Although I was aware that I wasn't reckoned to be here, still, I couldn't help but be intrigued. Eventually, I reached for the door and gently shoved myself in, there in the air was the young warlock I had met the previous day. Handful symbols were illustrated on the ground below him while he balanced in a meditative posture and a spell book before him in the mid-air.
The candles circling the symbols on the ground were the only source of light in the entire space, so I wasn't certain where the previous light had come from. Soon I watch as a drop of blood fell from his nose, and not long after that, he started to struggle as more blood trickled down his nostrils. Before I realized what was going on, his body unleashed a terrifying wave of light, an energy that surged past me and caused everything around him to crash into the walls and instantly the room went dark.
I was a bit startled to see him before me when I attempted to refocus on him. "You," He said staring plainly at me.
"I'm... sorry?" I let out, not sure if I was raising a question or apologizing.
"Are you hurt?"
"Hm? No. No, no” I shook my head not certain if he did notice “No. I'm fine" I instantly assured him.
"You...?" he ceased, rigorously watching me in a manner unknown to me. He wanted to raise a question or perhaps at the least say something, I could feel the words trying to escape his mouth but he only ended up saying "...how?" His face was clouded by doubts and a bit of haze which I wasn't specific why though he went on to ask. “What are you doing here? I almost harmed you, you know?” He mumbled, brows raised in concern and forehead slightly furrowed.
“I didn't mean to invade, I was only... I'm sorry” I let out the last line quickly and immediately turned to leave.
“Wait!” He called and I ceased “I was only worried I might have hurt you. You can stay if you want” He guaranteed, I was glad he did regarding that I was a bit inquisitive about figuring out the magic he was rehearsing.
“May I know the magic you were practicing, warlock?” I added even though it seemed not necessary.
He turned and used a spell to light the candles before glimpsing at me “Just address me as Cian” He muttered dragging a chair to my side. I mumbled a word of gratitude and then settled on the chair. “It's a manipulation spell” I mentioned while my gaze shifted to the room. The space seem not to be a sleeping chamber, it was mainly crammed with books and other fortes he presumably needed for his spells. “How were you able to defy the eruption of the spell unleashed?”
I had thought for some seconds there why the force went through me but conclude he had yielded them from me. “I never did so” I claimed.
“I witnessed it myself”
“Perhaps it simply happened then”
He watched me for a while before finally dropping his gaze. “Well, magic requires incantations, and spells, some do take years to study. What I observed you do was elemental, instinctive. You didn't perform a spell” He asserted, and I decided not to contest since I wasn't certain either.
“You're stained” I gestured. The blood stain might have been wiped, but there were still some traces of it.
“Magic does have a price, you know” He let a slight snort escape him as a quick smile crossed his lips. “I just need a little more time to study the omens” He rose and picked up a book, dropping it before me “Tell me, Aadya, do you know how to cast any of these spells?” He asked wearing an intriguing expression, one of a person that was about to engage in an interesting deal. His right brow raised slightly and teasingly “What will it be, milady?” His tone mellowed. Interestingly I nodded.
Cian precipitously vacated a region in the norm of the room before we settled down. He placed the book between us and then instructed me on the incantations to convey. He had mentioned that I was the only one to perform the spell, though if I erred, he do step up. I haven't tried any spells except for my elementary ability, so this was indeed an opportunity before the old warlock would commence mine. I scan through the book searching for one that might catch my attention until I came upon a protection command. A shield to shade one from any attack.
“You need much energy to command that. You won't be able to manage it for a start” I hear Cian note, observing my uncertainty at the page.
“Though I desire to,” I said positively “I'm sure I will be able to manage if you guide me”
He seemed to be fascinated by those words “There’s something about you, Aadya” His manifestation sincerely mulling over something as he gaze solely at me before he narrowly jerked his head. “I can’t quite put my finger on it”
“Well, I'd hear that a lot” I chuckled which he joined before everything died off. His straight nose glowed under the reflection of the candle flames, and his defined cheekbones and jawlines were sharply carved which made them stand out. And from the angle I was seeing, he did look like, “Are you related to old Ambrose?” I asked all of a sudden.
“What?”
“The old warlock, from this angle, you definitely do share a resemblance” I explained and he simpered.
“Is that also one of your abilities? I can see you have many of them” He wisecracks. “I'm a descendant of his,” He said like it was blatant or something obvious. I hummed and slowly nod to his response.
“Now. You only need to meditate and say this spell, it would need much energy from you before it could form” He gazed at me, and I jerked my head in understanding.
Time passed and I was unable to achieve anything but still, I wasn't planning on giving up. I tried to relax my mind as I tried it again. “Remember, don't force it, and don't do anything else. We can try tomorrow” His words were passive as they escaped my mind, letting me dwell in the words from the page.
“Lamone meni essela” The words came to life in my mind, I felt my hair move with the spiral of a sudden air in the room. I finally opened my eyes to see Cian beaming brightly at me before my eyes train at the pale grey moon-like shield laying over us both as a veil and a smile tugged its way onto my lips.
“You didn't say the spell words” Cian announced still smiling.
“Hm? I simply just thought about them” I responded still amazed by the shield covering us.
“You are special, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. Even though I allowed you to try the spell, I was certain you won't be able to conceive them, at least not for your first month here. You indeed surprised me, Aadya” He admitted before I let go of my commands. “It would be tremendous to attempt sorcery with you, although you tried murdering me the first time we met,” He said amusingly.
“It's been days, Cian. What else do you want? A parade?”
“You have no idea” I let out a sudden laugh. His voice sounded weighty yet cordial and no matter what he says there was always that slight glimpse of a smile that crosses his feature. He was strangely pleasant.
“I never believed those words could make you laugh that much” It was as he said, still I wasn't sure if I did laugh at his words or perhaps I just needed to release that energy. Staying here, I have learn to feel comfortable, it felt like home, the sort I had yearned for years back, where everyone accept me for who I am. There was nothing to be unnerve about here, I only ought to be myself and get by heart, that's all it takes.
“I may perhaps study with you the spell you were rehearsing” I proposed.
“It's a spell you verily need to understand the capacity of your strength before you endeavor. There is an outlay for any failure, one you might not be able to reimburse” He looked a bit serious with his warnings and yet a part of me still craved to learn the spell, I only need to understand the omens and do it the right way. “Is that a chance you're willing to take?”
