Alpha banners waved in the night wind. Torches burned along broken ridges. Wolves and shifters stood shoulder to shoulder, all waiting. Waiting for me. Waiting for what came next. Above us, the sky had begun to change. At first, it was only a strange red glow behind the clouds. Then the moon rose. Slowly. Wrong. It wasn’t white. It wasn’t silver. It was red. Deep, dark crimson, like it had been soaked in blood. The Blood Moon. My heart dropped into my stomach. Fia stiffened beside me. “Mom,” she whispered. “It’s starting.” Finn grabbed her hand. “What’s starting?” She swallowed.
