Bright sunlight streamed through the leaves, shining on Daisy's delicate face. She stirred slightly, feeling the roughness of the earth beneath her back. The musty scent of the soil, mingled with the rich fragrance of wild herbs, seemed to awaken all her senses. But something was wrong. This scent, this feeling… was completely foreign.
Daisy opened her eyes.
The scene before her astonished her into silence. Gone were the skyscrapers, the bustling streets, or the dazzling neon lights. Instead, there was a primeval forest, with towering ancient trees, their lush canopies obscuring the sky. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating dancing streaks of light on the ground, painting a magical picture.
She sat up abruptly, raising a hand to rub her temples. Her mind was blank, her memories fragmented like shards of broken glass. She remembered that she was Daisy, a biologist in the 21st century. She remembered that she was researching an ancient virus found in the permafrost of Antarctica. Then… then what happened?
A sharp pain from her lower abdomen pulled her back to reality. Daisy looked down, horrified to realize that her stomach was hugely swollen. She reached out and touched her belly, feeling a life growing inside. Six months! This pregnancy was six months along!
Daisy's reason screamed. How could it be? She had never loved anyone, never had any romantic relationship. So where did this baby come from?
Confusion, fear, and anger surged within Daisy. She stood up, staggering through the forest. She needed to find shelter, needed to find answers to the questions that were tormenting her mind.
After walking for a while, Daisy discovered a small trail. She followed the path, hoping it would lead her to a place with people. On and on she walked, and finally she saw light.
The light led her to a small village, nestled at the foot of a mountain. Simple thatched-roof houses, rough dirt roads, and people dressed in coarse cloth… all exuded an ancient, backward air.
As Daisy entered the village, all eyes turned to her. Curious, suspicious, and even astonished gazes. She felt like a strange creature, lost in a foreign world.
An old woman with a weathered face approached Daisy. She looked her up and down, then stopped at her pregnant belly.
"Young lady, where do you come from?" The old woman asked, her voice hoarse.
Daisy replied awkwardly: "I… I don't know. I only remember waking up in that forest."
The old woman frowned: "Then you are…?"
"I am Daisy," she replied.
The old woman nodded: "Daisy… A strange name indeed. And you, young lady, with such a pregnant belly, you must be married, right?"
Daisy shook her head: "I… I have no family."
Her answer caused a stir among the people around her. In this small village, for a girl to be pregnant without a husband was extremely shameful.
The old woman sighed: "Then what do you intend to do now?"
Daisy bit her lip: "I… I don't know either."
The old woman looked at her with a compassionate gaze: "If you don't mind, stay in this village. We will help you give birth, and then we'll see."
Daisy looked up at the old woman in surprise. She did not expect that the people in this strange village would be willing to help her.
"I… I thank you," Daisy said, her voice choked with emotion.
The old woman smiled: "It's nothing. In this village, we always help each other."
So Daisy decided to stay in the village. The old woman led her to a small, empty thatched house. The house was old, but still quite clean.
"This is the house of someone who has passed away," the old woman said. "You can stay here temporarily, and we'll see what happens after you give birth."
Daisy nodded, gratefully looking at the old woman.
In the days that followed, Daisy began to get used to life in the village. She learned how to work in the fields, how to cook, and how to communicate with the people here.
She realized that, although life in the village was poor, it was peaceful and warm. People lived together with neighborly love, helping each other in everything.
But what surprised Daisy the most was that she discovered she had a special ability. It was the ability to sense and control plants.
Once, while weeding in the fields, Daisy accidentally touched a rice plant that was diseased. She felt a strange energy flowing from her hand into the rice plant. And then, a miracle happened. The rice plant gradually recovered, the yellowed leaves turned green again.
Daisy looked at the rice plant in amazement. She didn't understand why she had this ability. But she knew that it was an extremely valuable ability.
From then on, Daisy began to use her ability to help the people in the village. She healed diseases in plants, helping the crops to flourish. She became a benefactor of the village.
But no matter how peaceful and warm life in the village was, Daisy could not forget the questions that were tormenting her mind. Who was she? Why was she here? And who was the father of the baby in her womb?
She decided she had to find the answers.
One moonlit night, Daisy sat on the porch, gazing at the starry sky. She remembered her world, remembered her loved ones. She wondered if they knew where she was. Were they looking for her?
Suddenly, a strange light appeared in the sky. The light grew larger and larger, until it turned into a giant vortex.
Daisy looked at the vortex in astonishment. She felt a powerful force pulling her towards the vortex.
She knew that this might be her chance to return to her world. But she also knew that if she left, she would have to leave behind everything she had here.
Which path would she choose?
