Chapter Fifty Seven : The Unraveling Rachel’s Internal Struggle Rachel's breath came in short bursts as she stared out the window of the car, the familiar city lights blurring into streaks that faded into the distance. The night air was cool, but inside the vehicle, the heat was suffocating, pressing upon her chest like a weight she could not lift. She felt trapped, not by the car, but by her decisions, by the dark path she had chosen. The soft hum of the engine did little to drown out the rush of thoughts in her mind, each one louder than the last. What have I done? She couldn't get the thought out of her head, no matter how hard she tried to push it away.
