I wait until the doors of the elevator to the surface close, before leveling him with a pointed stare. “Don’t you dare zap me,” Channing replies hastily. “You think you could stop me? On either count?” The questions are voiced playfully, not actually threateningly, which only serves to make his response all the more startling. He snorts. “We had this conversation months ago, Jinks.” Channing’s great blue eyes swivel my direction and all but root me to my spot with the moody darkness swirling in their depths.
