As it turns out, Channing’s last evening in Ireland is at the Bushmills Inn. It’s a boutique hotel and restaurant with history dating back to the 1600s and supposedly has a secret library. The fantastically manicured grounds abound with colorful flowers and a delightful herb garden and the original architecture is stunningly restored and carefully modernized to pay homage to the place’s long history. The hotel’s Gas Bar is called that because it’s still lit by actual gas lamps, which delights me at once. It’s cozy, with the same Irish pub feel as every other Irish pub we’ve been in, but obviously, with more style.
