“There is something else." Lucien set his empty espresso cup in the sink, not looking at me. "The Cross Holdings Wives' Luncheon is tomorrow. Noon at the Lotus Garden."
I felt my spine stiffen automatically, preparing for another battle about obligations and appearances. "And?"
"And you need to attend." He finally turned, his expression unreadable. "It's mandatory. First Thursday of every month. Patricia will be here at ten to help you prepare."
I should have fought him. Should have thrown his corporate wife requirements back in his face.
Instead, I felt my mouth curve into something sharp and dangerous. A smirk.
"Perfect," I said, the word dripping with a satisfaction that made Lucien's eyes narrow. "I'd hate to miss it."
