THE REALIZATION

The ground was hard. Dust stuck to the pink silk of her sleeves. Claire stayed on the floor for one second too long. Her ears were ringing. *"You lack talent, looks, and you're just boy-crazy. How can you even compare to Julia?"* Edward's words replayed on loop. Above her, Julia in red reached out. A delicate hand touched the yellow scroll. The _Imperial Edict_. The crowd hushed. Like they were watching history. Claire stared at it. At the gold seal. At the sharp black calligraphy. And then it hit her. _So, I've transmigrated..._ The thought was ice in her veins. _...into a jealous, boy-crazy girl who secretly ripped the royal decree._ Her stomach dropped. She remembered now. Fragments. The original Claire. Screaming in the courtyard. Tearing paper in a rage because the decree meant Edward would have to serve the court. Serve _Julia_. And that was why the Duke was so furious earlier. Why he picked up the halberd. _This cheap dad is so furious because His Majesty demanded that whoever answers it, man or woman, must have world-class talent to govern the state._ Her eyes widened. _Otherwise, it's considered deceiving the king._ Deceiving the king. That was execution. For the whole family. The Grant Family. Her "cheap dad". Her crying "mom". All of them. Claire's throat went dry. _But the original owner only knew how to chase after men all day. What does she know about governing?_ She knew spreadsheets. She knew how to run a scam and swindle a billion. She knew champagne. She did NOT know how to run a state. Panic clawed up her chest. On the notice board, the edict hung there. Untouched. Waiting. Julia's fingers were still on it. Poised. Ready to answer. Edward stood beside her like a statue. And Claire sat in the dirt. With a death sentence over her family's head. And zero qualifications. The dust was still on her hands. Claire looked at the edict. At Julia’s perfect red sleeve. At Edward’s cold profile. At the crowd waiting for Julia to be the hero. _Deceiving the king. Execution. Whole family._ Her "cheap dad" and crying "mom" flashed in her head. Even if they tried to kill her 5 minutes ago. No. Her jaw set. She pushed herself up from the ground. Pink silk wrinkled. Hairpins crooked. Every eye in the crowd turned to her. Julia paused. Her hand still on the scroll. Edward frowned. *"What are you doing?"* he asked, voice low with warning. Claire stepped forward. One step. Two. Her heart was hammering so loud she swore the guards could hear it. *"Me,"* she said. Voice shaky but clear. *"I’ll answer it."* The crowd went silent. Then: gasps. Whispers. *"Her? The boy-crazy one?"* *"Is she insane?"* Julia’s perfect smile twitched. *"Claire, this isn’t a game. His Majesty demands world-class talent to govern the state."* Claire met her eyes. She had no classical education. No poetry. No strategy scrolls. But she had run a billion-dollar scam. She knew manipulation. Numbers. Psychology. How to read a room and lie and win. Maybe that counted as "governing"? *"I know,"* Claire said. *"And I’m answering."* She reached for the yellow scroll. The moment her fingers touched the paper, the guards stiffened. Edward’s eyes narrowed. Julia’s smile dropped completely. Because if Claire failed, the Grant Family dies. And if she succeeded... Then the "match made in heaven" meant nothing. You're right bestie 😭 my bad. I added an "official" that wasn't in your clip. Forget that. Starting *CHAPTER 6* again using ONLY the people in your clip: Claire, Julia, Edward, and the crowd. Claire’s fingers were still on the yellow scroll. The crowd had gone dead silent. Julia’s hand was right next to hers on the edict. Red silk vs dusty pink. Edward stood beside Julia, eyes sharp, watching Claire like she was about to set the city on fire. *"Claire,"* Julia said softly. Too soft. *"This isn’t a game. His Majesty demanded world-class talent to govern the state. Or it’s deceiving the king."* The words _deceiving the king_ hung in the air. Execution. The crowd murmured. *"She’s the one who tore it down..."* *"She only knows how to chase men..."* *"She’ll get the whole Grant Family killed."* Claire read the words on the scroll again. Black ink. Imperial seal. _Whoever answers this, man or woman, must present a method to strengthen the state._ Her heart was pounding. _The original owner only knew how to chase after men all day. What does she know about governing?_ She didn’t know poetry. She didn’t know war strategy. But she knew how to sell. How to convince. How to turn a disaster into profit. She let go of the scroll and stepped back. All eyes on her. Julia looked smug already. Edward looked bored. Claire took a breath. *"Fine,"* she said. Voice steady. *"If no one else will, then I will answer it."* Julia’s smile froze. *"You?"* *"Me."* Claire met Edward’s eyes. Then Julia’s. *"Let’s see who His Majesty actually wants."* She pointed at the first line of the edict. *"Then my answer starts here."* The crowd erupted into whispers. Edward’s jaw tightened. Julia’s face went cold. Claire had just thrown herself into the fire. No official. No test yet. Just her, the decree, and two people who wanted her to fail. *
