Chapter 4: Unraveling Clues

Marcus and Janice sat in the conference room, poring over the evidence they had collected. They had spoken to Elara, who had revealed that she saw two masked figures lurking around the temple on the night of the theft.

"I think we should review the security footage again and see if we can spot any other suspicious activity," Janice said, her eyes scanning the room.

"Agreed," Marcus replied. "Maybe there's a clue we missed the first time around."

As they reviewed the footage, they noticed a figure lurking around the eastern border at the time of the theft. "Look at this," Marcus said, pointing to the figure. "This person seems to be trying to distract the patrol team."

Janice's eyes narrowed. "That's suspicious. Let's see if we can enhance the footage and get a better look at the figure's face."

Meanwhile, Ryker was watching the investigation unfold from a distance. He knew that he had been careful, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that the investigators were getting close to the truth.

"Ryker, what do you know about the theft?" Kael asked, his eyes piercing as he looked at his brother.

Ryker's expression turned innocent. "I don't know what you're talking about, Kael. What's my business with the gem? I don't even go to the temple except for the pack festivals"

Kael's eyes narrowed. "I'm watching you, Ryker. If I find out you're involved, there will be consequences."

Ryker's expression turned cold, but he kept his cool. "I'm telling the truth, Kael. You can trust me."

"Where are you going? The meeting is still on"

" I have a pregnant, hormonal mate to attend to Kael ".

" Mmmmm... ok"

"I have this gut feeling Alpha. Ryker shouldn't be free like this "

" I know but we have proof yet"

As Ryker walked through the shadows, he was met by a figure cloaked in darkness. The figure stepped forward, revealing piercing eyes and razor-sharp fangs.

"Ryker, how's the plan progressing?" the figure asked, its voice low and menacing.

Ryker bowed his head slightly. "The gem is gone, . The pack is searching for it, but I managed to cover my tracks."

The figure, a vampire named Valois, smiled, revealing his fangs. "Good work, Ryker. I knew I could count on you. But we need to get the gem to the collector soon. He's getting impatient."

Ryker nodded. "I'll take care of it, . But I need more information about the collector and what he plans to do with the gem."

Valois's expression turned cold. "You don't need to know anything about the collector, Ryker. Your job is to get the gem and bring it to me. I'll take care of the rest."

Ryker's eyes narrowed, but he knew better than to disobey Valois. He had made a deal with the vampire, trading his loyalty for power and protection. Ryker would do whatever it took to fulfill his end of the bargain.

"I'll get the gem, master," Ryker said, his voice firm. "But I need to know what's in it for me. What's the payoff?"

Valois smiled again, his fangs glinting in the moonlight. "You'll get your reward, Ryker. Don't worry about that. Just focus on getting the gem and bringing it to me."

Ryker nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. He knew that he was taking a risk working with Valois, but the potential reward was worth it. He would do whatever it took to get the gem and fulfill his deal with the vampire.

(At the Alpha's office)

" Alpha you summoned me "

" Clarice. What have you seen or heard so far?

"The voices have been silent Alpha"

" Clarice this issue is delicate. The pack is in danger without the Gem. How you did not see the future about this happening intrigues me"

" Alpha, be assured that I am not the enemy, but - but what Clarice ?"

"My mother the previous Priestess fore foresaw a prophecy"

"What prophecy... every prophecy is documented - not this one Alpha"

" WHAT!!!! - Be calm Kael. I never imagined it would come to pass in your reign. "

" Clarice speak!!!!!!"
