CHAPTER 2 : The Unseen Shift.

"Let's just get home and find a way to fix this"

Lyra's vision blurred as the gem's energy surged through her body. She stumbled, her hands grasping for the tree nearby to steady herself. The world around her began to spin, and she felt a strange, creeping sensation in her mind. When her vision cleared, Lyra looked down at her hands and saw that they were shaking. Her eyes, usually a bright, piercing yellow, now gazed back at her in a mismatched stare: one yellow, one emerald green.

Confusion washed over her. What had just happened? The gem's power still pulsed through her veins, and she could feel its presence like a shadow in her mind.

" See, I told you. I don't know what happened to you but it was and is scary"

As she stood there, Lyra began to notice changes. Her senses were heightened, but not just her kitsune senses. She could feel the magic in the air differently, as if she were tuning into a new frequency. The trees seemed to whisper secrets in a language she had never heard but was suddenly fluent in.

But there was something else, a presence that wasn't hers. A voice, low and smooth, whispered in her mind, "You shouldn't have done that, Lyra."

Lyra's grip on her sanity faltered. Who was speaking to her? She tried to silence the voice, but it grew louder, more insistent. The voice seemed to be arguing with her, debating with her, and Lyra felt her thoughts tangled in its words.

She realized, with a jolt of fear, that she was no longer alone in her mind. The gem had brought with it a second consciousness, one that was powerful and dominant.

As the days passed, Lyra struggled to control her new, shared consciousness. The voice, which she came to think of as "the other," was strong-willed and independent. It had its agenda, its motivations.
