Chapter 12: Creating a Hut

The morning came and Li Xian had already woken up. He did not know how many hours he sleeps but his body is refreshed.

Usually if he is getting back up from the bed, he would feel a little tired.

He doesn’t know whether it is because of the forest or because of his internal energy that getting up from sleep did not feel as tired as he is in his original world

He took a deep breath and then he went to the forest to practice a bit and to hunt for food. But he had to settle the wolves in front of the hut first.

He spent a few hours skinning the other wolves when the sun comes up. He got a lot of skill points there

After that he check the surrounding and found a bracelet. The bracelet did not have any function other than it enhances luck.

Li Xia had a thought then. This bracelet might belong to the real Li Xian. Since the bracelet had an effect he did not see before, he put it on his neck.

Then he went around the area

He still did not know much about this forest, so he did not go that far. Using a few branches and vines he created a few simple traps around the forest and then with his sword, he hunted a few birds and rabbits.

He even manages to kill a few snakes.

Almost all morning was spent in hunting some games so he could eat luxuriously today. This is one of the time where Li Xian miss the convenience of the modern world

He shakes his head and said to himself

‘If I keep comparing the two, it would not be good’ he thought to himself.

Li Xian wanted to curse the world. That is what he wanted to do before he went to sleep last night.

But when morning came, he felt hungry. As such, he did not even have energy to curse the world. he had to fill his stomach with food first before having the energy to get mad.

Having energy did not mean he is not hungry. Thankfully, he got a lot of things he could eat.

He then spends 11 Liang to process all of it into food. He did not put these thing into the Storage Bag.

Not that he could. But even if he could, he would not. It would be such a hassle. After all, the birds and rabbit would be his food.

He thinks about the Cook Life Skill and he thinks he should learn a bit about that skill later.

And around afternoon he got back to the hut.

Because he used the processing function of System, the meat of the rabbits is very soft and delicious.

The texture and the taste is also top level.

It is like the System add some artificial seasoning that enhances one taste buds. He misses salt at this moment. He misses salts and all of those seasonings.

‘I need to find more quest. I could live without mastering the martial arts. But I could not live if I have to eat meat without seasoning.’ He thought to himself

While eating he check his Life Skill points and the Life Skill points has increased to 7500 points. It is all because he is hunting all of these games which added point to his Life Skill points.

The one that gives him a lot of points is when he got the snake.

Li Xian had an idea about this. It seems that the more dangerous the thing that a hunter hunts, the more points it gives to the life Skill points.

Li Xian also believes that if he learns all of the Life Skill points, then everything he did that contribute to that life skill abilities, it would increase the Life Skill points.

In the afternoon, eating a few rabbits that is warm and delicious, it increases a little of his mood. He had travel not far from the hut.

When he woke in the morning, and saw the sun when morning came, he could see how ugly the hut really is.

It is because of that he decides to try learn the Woodcutter life skill points. He could then buy the Builder skill and fix this hut

He is not yet confident to come down the mountain. If this even is a mountain. Whatever the case was he needs a base first as he explores the area.

If this is a real game, then this could be considered his starting village.

He had a plan for himself. Right now, his power level is still weak.

And since this is an age that is like the Warring Periods between warlords all over Tang dynasty it is not really a safe world out there. And he himself could not believe a hundred percent of the history that he had read. Because there is a lot of inconsistencies with this world Tang dynasty, and his world Tang dynasty.

He did not want to come down the mountain and then get killed by some soldiers or some bandits.

‘This system did not help at all’ he said to no one in particular.

Most system would have given some help or guidance. Like go cut down a hundred trees. Or go hunt a hundred snakes.

Or something like that.

Other than last night quest, the System did not prompt any quest even when he was shunting those rabbits and birds and those snake

 ‘Must I do this by myself? When I have the System?’ he complained.

He did not laze around after eating. Instead he set up more traps along the hut. If tonight, more wolves come to this area, it would not be them hunting him.

It would be him hunting their pack. All of it is for more points

Skinning and hunting things would help him get more Life Skill points. And it also helps him in having a more flexible body as he run across uneven terrains to hunt.

He then checks the description of the Woodcutter Life Skill

[Woodcutter]

The Woodcutter is a gathering life skill that allows the host to cut wood from various trees located throughout the world. To learn the skill, you have to purchase the Manual of Cutting Through the Grain in the system store.

The price will depend on what other gathering skills the player has already learned. Upon learning the skill, the player will receive the title Woodcutting Novice and can perform the Woodcutter skills. To use the life skill, the player must have an axe in their backpack.

This Life Skill would strengthen one muscle and physical power.

To raise the level of Woodcutter rank, either spend Life Skill points or accepts quest that would be given to rank up. To level up ranks by using Quest please notify the system. When one is cutting certain trees and manage to cut it with least damage or cutting is cleanly, Life Skill point will be added.

The larger the tree that is being cut and the cleaner the cut of the tree, the more life skill one would get. The Life Skill points given is adjusted accordingly to the host power level and host experience in hunting such beast.

He nodded and bought the Manual a which cost him fifty liang. Looking at the decreasing money fills Li Xian heart with certain anxiousness.

He then without hesitation uses 6210 points to rank up Woodcutter to Journeyman rank.

The moment he did that he could feel his physique changing. It was like his arms strength multiplied by countless of time and then his entire body felt more sturdy and stronger.

These changes takes only a second. He heaved a breath and then opens his eyes after  a moment of contemplation. The moment he opens his eyes; a pop window appears in front of his eyes.

[Learn the Skill Axe Proficiency]

It turns out there is such a thing, he thought to himself. He brought out his axe and then try to swing it.

He smiles after one swing. It seems learning skills like this would be easier by learning it by buying it in the System Store and upgrading it than learning it manually.

If not, how many years would it take for him to have such proficiency in axe swinging.

The moment he swings the axe; he could feel the difference in the way he swings his axe.

Maybe later after he upgraded it even more, it would give him some related skill that is related with axe technique.

He looks at the sun outside the hut

It is still afternoon. He still has a lot of time to do something

He did not care that much about his Life Skill points. Points are there to be spend after all.

He decided that unless he have some objectives that requires him to store it for some rainy days. As of right now, his objective is only to maintain survival

‘First, upgrade the base’ he mutters to himself. There is a reason why he upgraded the Woodcutter ability

That is because this afternoon he is about to build some walls with the trees. He would also strengthen the pillars and added wood on the holes.

He then buys the Builder skill using ten liang. Then using martial skill points he ranks up Builder skill until Expert rank.

Li Xian then also increases his Axe Proficiency to Apprentice level by using 15 martial skill points.

This would help him chopping down trees.

He did not care about the Life Skill points because he could farm it all.

Li Xian after finishing all of this and energized after the eating quickly go outside his hut.

He then began chopping off trees around the hut area.

Each time he fell down a tree, the Life Skill points shot up.

There was a lot of trees to cut and he still have a lot of energy to spare. And with it rising a lot, Li Xian motivation to cut down the trees intensified.

This is the reason why people like playing games. The improvement could be seen in real time.

After a few hours of chopping down trees, he then would position the trees creating a circle around the hut as the layout for the walls.

He creates circular lines and then using the sword he cut the end of the branches and create a long thick stake.

He then would use his palm attack to drill the stake into ground. He keeps doing it and he saw his martial skill points also increases but it did not increase as much as life skill points. Like Li Xian thought.

If he wanted to make an achievement in the martial skill points, fighting is probably the answer.
