In her room, Tessa lay unconscious, like some fairy tale princess, except no kiss was coming to wake her up.
Nathan threw a vase at the wall, and it sailed past Dr. Bennett’s head.
“Three days!” he snapped, ruffling his own hair. He stepped closer, and the doctor retreated until his back hit the wall. Shards of the vase littered the floor. “You said she’d only be out for a few hours. Look at her now! Three days, damn it!”
The doctor hesitated, adjusting his glasses that didn’t help much.
“It could be a reaction…” he said, his hands moving more than his words. He knew Nathan sometimes had trouble controlling his temper. “A reaction that’s not consistent with the other medications she’s taking.”
