Chapter Twenty-four
Alaric's POV:
"I am only looking out to make sure word doesn't get out about our contract."
"Don't worry. I won't say anything. Besides... I will never pass up that sum of money."
She takes two steps and crouches. She grabs her stomach and a pained sound leaves her mouth.
My legs carry me to her side and I hold her.
"I'm fine." She hits my hand off for the umpteenth time today. "It's just a mere pain."
She tried to get to her feet but I can see the struggle.
I hold her elbow and take her shoulder. "Let me help you."
She hits me off. Again.
"I said I'm fine."
I've had enough of this s**t!
I shouldn't have come to a conclusion on this marriage with her. This was a stupid decision. A useless one. A limiting one.
She struggles to get up and fails.
