Chapter Nineteen
Alaric's POV:
"Why are you yelling at me?"
I stare at Miss Carter and I have nothing to say.
What if the entire tray had fallen on you? I'm yelling at you because you might have been hurt. I'm yelling because your carelessness almost got you hurt.
"Let's go home. You look like you don't want to be here."
We're home and I turn to see Miss Carter staring into space. She furrows her brows and relaxes them. She exhales and brings her hands to her mouth.
Something must have happened in the time she left the office and arrived late for the fundraising.
Where did she go?
I get out of the car and open the door. She blinks and turns to me. Without a word, she comes down from the car and moves straight for her room.
