Chapter Four- Bre

1427 Words
Bre and Shelby walked inside a bar called 'Black Lights Bar' and snatched up a table in the far back corner away from the crowd of people surrounding the counter to buy more drinks. They came here quite a bit and Bre personally knew the owner, Lenora, who often worked here at her own ba. Lenora's bar was only open at nighttime because she was famous for the room that was completely dedicated to black lights where you could go and get splattered with neon paints to look like you were glowing. It's a big hit, especially for a bunch of drunk folks in a small town in Alaska with nothing to do. "Hey, why the hell are we sitting back here when the party is up there? Maybe we can find a table in the black light room?" Bre asked Shelby and she shrugged. "I'm sorry, I'm just not feeling the whole black light scene tonight." Shelby sighed. Bre knew why; ever since a couple nights ago when that 'bear' attacked the car, it's had her on edge.  Shelby fidgeted in her seat uncomfortably while Bre just watched her, unsure of what to do at the moment until she realized they were at the bar to drink, so the best thing to do was get her best friend drunk to block out the memories of that horrible night for now so they could have some fun and party for real. "Well, whatever, you won't be feeling that way once I get your ass drunk!" Bre laughed as she walked up to the bar, leaning on it with one hip popped out. She had guys immediately start talking to her which just boosted her ego, not like it needed much boosting though. Shelby has known Bre since they worked together at a summer job when they were both 16. They clicked right away which was unexpected for Shelby but she's glad she got to meet such an amazing, crazy and outgoing person. Shelby was home-schooled and was very introverted until she met Bre who then brought out the extroverted side of her. Shelby is actually what you would call an ambivert, same as Bre. They hung out a lot and eventually grew a bond between the 2 of them; they're almost inseparable now. They are very similar in a lot of ways, believe it or not, Shelby is just a more tamed version of her. Bre is also a very trustworthy person, someone that Shelby would trust with her own life. Despite her crazy personality, she is a lot like a mom and takes care of everyone and tries her best to ensure their safety if they're doing something a little risky. What's life if you aren't living on the edge sometimes? Especially with your best friend. She might be a 5'4 skinny, petite woman but her big personality makes up for the majority of the height she never got to reach. She looks tiny and cute until you do something to piss her off and then she becomes a grizzly bear ready to attack. She's fast, witty, and you wouldn't be prepared for the hell she can unleash on your ass. The mother side of her is very caring, although she doesn't always like to show emotion because her single mother taught her growing up that showing emotion meant weakness. That's something Shelby disagrees with but nonetheless is accurate for Bre, but over the years with her, Shelby has softened her just enough to be able to show emotion only when needed. Bre is also very good at giving advice whenever asked, or if you got yourself into a messy situation and you don't know how to get yourself out of it, she's the one to call. She might not always pick up the phone, so sometimes its best to just go straight to her house and bang on the door. Shelby looked up to see Bre joking around with a guy and using her squatting pose for more 'emphasis' as she would say. She would also be squatting while saying 'emphasis' to add more emphasis. It actually works, you would be surprised.  Shelby glanced around to see if Dillon was working tonight. He is the tall, big, burly, muscly, and bushy faced Bouncer for the bar, also Bre's current love interest which she still hasn't admitted to herself. As she scanned the room, she only saw the other Bouncer, Cliff, who was also a tall, muscly guy. He was walking the bar making sure everything was under control. He made eye contact with Shelby and waved at her, recognizing her face, so she kindly waved back. Bre came back to the table with, not 2, but 4 tequila shots... each. "Drink up!!" Bre shouted, licking salt off of her hand and downing all 4 shots before letting out a loud, "WHHOOO!!" and then swinging her arms back and forth in the air like a gorilla ready to beat on her chest. Shelby laughed and followed her lead, licking salt off of her hand and downing 2 shots before having to grab more salt for the other 2. "That was so rough.." Shelby said, her voice straining from the burning tequila shots that she just downed. She coughed a couple of times, her eyes even tearing up a little. "Oh, don't be a p***y!" Bre laughed at her, patting her on the back, making Shelby roll her eyes. "I still did it, didn't I?" Shelby scoffed at her. "Yes, you did. I'm so proud. My baby is growing up so fast." Bre said, putting a hand over her heart with a quivering lip, pretending to be so touched that her so called child has grown into adulthood and can hold her own liquor. "You trained me well, Senpai." Shelby said, bowing to Bre, suddenly feeling those 4 tequila shots kicking in. She became very giggly and started tipping over onto Bre. "Lightweight." Bre chuckled at her. "HaaHAA! S-s-soo, if I'm a lightweight, then you're a HEAVYWEIGHT! BAHAHHA! IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE YOU'RE SO TINY!!" Shelby shouted, slurring her words as she started laughing loudly with a high pitched squeal almost like a pig with an added on snort at the end. Bre couldn't control herself and ended up busting up laughing with her, both of them falling over.  "Damn. That tequila worked fast on you, I'm only feeling a little buzz." Bre chuckled. "Bah! Who cares? Lets go to the lack brights.. I mean- the BLACK LIGHTS!" Shelby said, laughing at herself. Bre laughed as she helped her up to her feet and they walked over to the black light room. Both of them wore white shirts just for this moment and Shelby was extremely excited about it now. "Who goes first?" Bre asked her. Shelby just gave her a look. "I forgot which Shelby I was talking to, sorry. Go on up next to the wall, I'll grab the paint." Shelby giggled as she did her drunk model walk up to the black wall with neon colors splattered all over which the black lights lit up.  "I feel like I'm in SPACE!" Shelby giggled. Bre walked over and grabbed the neon paint colors that were sitting next to a table and then walked back to a mesmerized Shelby. Without a word, Bre started splattering her with the paint making Shelby laugh. She twirled around until she got good and splattered and then she went up to Bre and took the brush.  "Get your ass over there!" Shelby told her, throwing paint as she pointed at the wall with the brush. "Yes, ma'am!" Bre laughed and went up next to the wall while Shelby splattered her with paint, missing a few times but still got a good amount on her. As the night went on, Shelby forgot about her worries that were trying to pull their way into the forefront of her mind. She was drunk enough not to care, but not drunk enough to disregard the fact that they were there. She was just glad to have Bre to hang out with and remind her how to have fun. Bre never left her side the whole night and after the 4 shots of tequila, she didn't drink anymore alcohol so she could keep an eye on Shelby and make sure she wasn't going to do anything to badly injure herself. She promised Kyler to take her out for a fun night and bring her back in one piece, and she wasn't one to break a promise.
