Chapter 9 – Someone Wants Me Killed

I was awakened by the voices that keep on rambling about something. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around.

Where am I?

Is this a hospital?

This will bring me trouble surely. If someone finds out that I am here, this hospital might turn into a battlefield.

I searched for the people whom I have been hearing talking and they were at the corner near the windows of this room. Vlad and Liam were seriously staring outside. They didn't even notice that I'm already awake.

"You know that they don't serve cakes in the cafeteria," I heard Vlad say. He looks angry.

He was about to say one more thing but he noticed that I was looking at them.

To my surprise, he suddenly smiled, his angelic smile.

Damn this weird guy!

"You're awake." He said and walk towards me.

I looked around again and it was just the two of them here.

I tried to sit down when I noticed that he was about to help me. I stopped him from doing so.

"I can do it myself. I don't like people touching me," I said as I sat down on the bed. I adjusted the blanket to my waist.

This dress that I’m wearing is extremely short so, I badly need to cover my legs. Other than that reason, they might see my guns and dagger under my skirt.

Yet, I wonder if they already saw it. I took a glimpse at Vlad.

I was caught off guard when I saw him already looking at me straight in the eyes. His face was closer to mine.

"Can you move please?" I asked because I feel uncomfortable. He smiled first before doing so.

“Then I’ll head back then,” Vlad said then head towards the door.

When he opened it, that is when I realized that I'm only at the clinic. I saw some students of the Academy passing by.

Does this mean that I'm still inside the school?

"If you want to go back to your dorm, you can tell Liam. He will bring you there safely. I need to go now." He said and finally went outside the clinic.

I looked at the guy who was the only one left inside this room. Liam is just silently staring through the windows. I don't need help from him or anyone too.

"You can go now," I said but he was just blankly staring outside, not listening to the words that I have said.

What the hell is he even looking at?

I got up from the bed and came towards him. Unexpectedly, when I was about to get near him, he looked at me anxiously.

I wonder why?

Even so, I was surprised when he suddenly hugged me but he embraced me strongly which made us fall to the floor. I was startled when he got on top of me.

What the hell is he doing?

The next thing I know is that the windows began to shatter. He covered me with his own body as the pieces of the window glass fell towards the floor.

What the hell is happening?

Is someone trying to kill me?

It started during lunch.

Did they know I was here?

Did they find out my location?

"Are you okay?" Liam asked which made me snap back to reality. I pushed him hard and immediately stood up.

I glanced through the windows carefully which were destroyed. I didn't see anyone but wait! I saw light coming from that forest. It must be their flashlights.

I pulled out my gun under my skirt and was about to go outside when Liam stopped me from doing so. He grabbed onto my arm tightly. He was covered in wounds due to protecting me from the window glass.

"What do you want?" I asked furiously, trying to not be bothered by his state. I can’t lose my composure.

"They're armed men." He spoke.

I can see that he is worried but he just made me laugh. Just as I thought, this bunch of kids don't know how to fight in this messed up world of ours.

"Well, I'm an assassin and I've already killed hundreds. Those men who tried to kill me just a while ago, they'll be added to my list." I coldly said to him. I saw him stiffen by those words.

He knows that already but why is he giving me this expression?

He's shocked.

I didn't bother to mind him and just began to run towards that forest.

Damn these stupid people!

I'm still not yet finished with this mission and yet someone is already trying to kill me!

Well, it's inevitable. I'm pissed off right now so I'll tear those men into pieces.

I hurriedly ran into the dark forest.

Deep within, I heard noises coming from my right side. I went there but quietly. I'm sure it's them.

After taking a few steps, I saw men standing and talking to one another. Liam was right, they were armed.

I was about to get near them but someone suddenly pulled me. He hid me by his body while he was hiding in this big tree.

"Who the f**k? What are-" I wasn't unable to finish my words because he covered my mouth with his hands.

"Ssshhh." He warned.

I stared at this man who was still covering my mouth. I was bothered by our position. My body was so close to him.

Then, I heard a noise once again. I know that it came from those men who tried to kill me. I removed his hand away from my mouth and was about to get near them but he stopped me for the second time.

"What are you doing?" I asked irritated but my face changed immediately when I looked at him.

Why is he looking at me like that?

No, why do these people keep on looking at me like I’m some kind of fragile girl?

I was surprised when he pulled me closer to him. He hugged me tightly then I felt him put down his head on my shoulder. I can feel his breath on my neck, it was tickling me.

"They took her." He said weakly.

What did he say?

My hands were starting to get numb. I don't know why but my chest feels like it was about to explode.

"They took Livia." He added and that made me left dumbfounded.
