Why am I running?
I tried to stop myself but my feet continue to move on their own. I can't control my own body.
Then, I suddenly felt chills run down my spine. I can feel someone's gaze was staring at me.
I turn around immediately but there's no one else there. All I can see are these gloomy forests with frighteningly huge trees surrounding me.
Despite the darkness, I can see and smell blood on the dress that I am wearing and my body is all covered with it.
Why am I covered in blood?
I fell to my knees as I looked at my hands. Blood continued to drip.
Did I kill someone again?
I started to suffocate.
I don't like this.
I don't like the dark.
Please!
Please!
Help me!
Someone, please!
"Vivian." Someone called.
I felt a hand touching my shoulders. My eyes were wide open when I heard my name was being called.
I fell asleep in the bathtub.
I looked at the person who woke me up and it was Vlad. I deeply sighed.
"Thank you," I said but I realized that I was naked.
"What the f**k VLAD!" I shouted and hurriedly stood up but why the hell did I do that?
His eyes widened upon seeing my body. He immediately averted his gaze when he realized that he was staring at me. I tried not to get angry as I eagerly close my eyes.
Then, I opened it as soon as it closes and pick up the towel on his lap. I hurriedly covered my naked body.
"What are you doing here?" I asked irritated.
He now looked at me but I can see that he is uncomfortable looking at me in the eyes.
Is this his first time seeing a woman's naked body?
Or is it his first time seeing a woman's body full of scars on her skin?
I have it all over my body except for my face. These were all from my training and previous missions. My life depends on every task that I get, so it is inevitable from getting a scar. I can't avoid it because I'm an assassin.
We are trained to kill and not to care for our bodies. I'm always near to my death because of the dangerous missions that are given by Mr. Azier but he is always there to save me.
I treated him like my father ever since he saved me, that is why this mission is very important to me.
I won't disappoint him, not anymore.
"I said what are you doing here?" I asked him again. He finally looked me straight in the eye.
"Jade has been knocking on the door. She was worried because you've been here for quite a long time." He explained. I smiled bitterly.
Worried?
She doesn't even know me. She only knows my name and the stories about me from someone else's mouth.
"Also, she forgot to give you this." He said handing me a folded lingerie while avoiding my gaze.
I took the lingerie and went out of the tub.
I went towards a dry spot and wore it, then I reached for the dress that I hung in the corner and put it on.
Afterward, I picked up the heels that she gave me and see if it fits. It did, thankfully.
When I was finished, I took a glimpse at him who was now staring at the floor.
Good thing he knows where to look or I'll surely gouge his eyes out.
"What did you see?" I asked.
"Nothing." He answered, it was like a whisper. He still wasn't looking at me.
"Good." I simply said and proceeded to walk outside the bathroom.
I saw Jade who was sitting at the edge of her bed and the twins who were on the sofa.
How did these two brothers get here?
Did Vlad call them? Maybe...
By then, I noticed Liam's wounds which have been finally attended to.
A sudden question slipped through my mind.
Why did he cover me?
By then, Liam had glanced in my direction but not for long.
"How long have I've been staying there?" I asked but I was surprised when a towel landed on my head, that is when I realized that my hair is still wet. I forgot to dry it off.
"Two hours," Vlad said and proceeded to walk towards the twins. I carefully wiped my hair with the towel as I went toward them.
"That was long," I answered and sat at one of the vacant seats.
What are they staring at?
I frowned. They finally averted their gazes from mine. They were all acting weird, weirder than this guy.
"By the way." I began as I put down the towel on my lap. I looked at Jade who was looking at her phone silently.
"Which family do you belong to Jade?" I asked. She changed her gaze onto mine and smiled sweetly in return.
"Clarke." She answered. I looked at Vlad who was already looking at me seriously.
What is his problem?
"Are you all the sons and daughters of the mafia? I thought that the mafia has been destroyed." I asked confused.
All this time, I was thinking that they are all just a family who does business and kills. I never thought that they are starting to form a rank in the underworld.
But then, I remember that they knew Mr. Azier so, does this mean he is also in the mafia?
"Yes, we are." Sabrina quietly answered.
"The strong mafia families that were forming in the underworld now is also a secret organization that hunts and kills demons and those who possess demons in order to make an army. We consist of five families, Clarke, Azier, Gustavo, Kearne, and lastly Lasiere." Vlad explained.
I looked at them thoroughly.
They all are here, except for the Lasiere.
I saw Tyler stand up from his seat and pick up a picture frame that was at Jade’s table. He gave it to me, smiling sadly.
What's this now?
I took a glimpse at the picture. Five children were standing in front of a house. I closely looked at the picture and one person caught my attention.
Among the five young children, there was only one who looked older than them. I haven't seen this guy yet.
"Who's this?" I asked pointing to the guy near Vlad.
"That's Damian," Liam said.
Damian?
"Damian Lasiere!" I gasped.
He is the heir of the Lasiere Family. I'm very interested to know him in person since Mr. Azier hasn't given me any mission that is involved in this family and it's been bothering me.
I don't know why or what's his reasons but I can't help myself to wonder and get curious about his family and this man.
"Where is he?" I asked.
"The Academy of Eris" Liam answered. I thought that the only school for people like us is the Mastavo Academy.
What is he doing there?
Unless he is hiding the fact that he is a dangerous man. I glanced at the picture in my hand once again. Damian was the only one who isn't smiling at the picture.
He isn't studying here but why?
Did something happen?
"Why isn't he here?" I asked but they all kept quiet. Silence started to fill the room. It's bugging me. They don't want to answer my question but I'm persistent.
"Then what happened?" I asked in exchange.
The next thing I know is that Jade stood up and so did the twins. They all went outside the room without saying a word. Vlad was the only one left here with me.
When I heard the door finally close, I faced Vlad. He will be the one who's going to explain things.
"We've met him at our mansion. Mrs. Lasiere brought him there. We were fifteen years old at that time. He's quiet but very observant. He doesn't talk, even smiles. I never even saw him move those lips of his. Eventually, as time passed by, he started to talk with us. We all became friends. But you see something terrible happened to his mother one day and that is the reason why we never saw him again. Would you like to guess what happened?" He asked as he played with his finger.
"She was killed?" I asked hesitating at first. He nodded in return.
"By whom?" I asked once again. I'm getting more curious.
"You know who." He answered. My eyes widened at his response.
Aviana killed his mother?
Why?
And how the hell did that happen?
All I know is that she killed all his enemies and after that she killed herself. There is no way in hell that Aviana just recently died. They were fifteen at the time, so is he telling me that, she just died a few years ago. It cannot be true for she died so many decades ago.
"What?" I asked totally confused. He breathed heavily.
"Well, she didn't kill his parents. The truth is we don't exactly know who killed his mother but the thing is Damian saw the murderer. But until now, Damian still hasn't talked about what happened that day. No one knows what he saw except for him. We all know one thing in common and that Aviana is the only one capable of killing her." He explained.
“What do you mean?” I asked getting even more confused.
“Mrs. Lasiere’s body was blown into pieces. There was no evidence found at the scene which could determine that her body became like that because of some sort of bomb or something.” He added as my eyes widened.
To my surprise, it made me grin. A realization finally hits me.
If I were Damian, I would be searching for Livia too. After I took her, I will make her suffer first then kill her after. This is the reason why he took her, for revenge.
"Let's get her back," I said looking at the picture in my hand. He frowned at what I had said.
"Who?" He asked puzzled.
"Livia." I simply answered. He shook his head then smiled at me.
Damn that angelic smile!
"How?" He finally asked. I finally stood up from my seat.
"I think I know where to find her now," I answered and smiled devilishly.
