Jasper was about to speak, but Rick cut him off: "The kids are awake. Nina's taking care of them. She asked me to watch the shop!"

"Rick," he said, "Nina must have left before you dared to come in, right? Why does the story change coming from your mouth?"
He admired Rick's audacity to fabricate such a blatant lie. Asking him to watch the shop? Nina hadn't even let him inside.
