King Cale’s POV "King, the pack alphas have all arrived and are seated in the conference room. I took a quick deep breath before leaving my office with my Beta in tow. The servants around my castle bowed down to me as I passed them in the halls, earning a nod in response from me. The six Alphas, and three Lunas, stood up from their seats as I walked through the doors. With a wave of my hand, they sat back down. I took a seat in my chair at the head of the table with my Beta, Declan, and my Delta, Litton, at my side. "What are the updates on this young she-wolf? Any luck with her scent?" I ask as I begin the meeting. All but one Alpha jumped at my voice that filled the room. Alpha Darran seemed focused on something else and not my question. "That rogue attacked one of my pack members on Saturday, feet away from two young pups." Alpha Darran spat but fixed his tone once my Beta growled at him. I already knew about the attack, which is why I called the meeting. I gestured for them to take a seat. "We caught her scent by my northern borders not so long after I got a warning from Alpha Darran. I sent trackers, but they couldn't find anything. Her scent disappeared after a few miles." Alpha Grant continued. "How is your pack member?" I questioned, my mind pitying the wolf that was defenseless against the reckless rogue. "She's recovering. Severe electrical shock and burnt skin tissue. She gave me a detailed description of the rogue, once she woke up." He said and I nodded waiting for him to continue. He pulled out a piece of paper that was filled with messy handwriting. "Linzie, my pack member, said she was fairly small, nothing taller than 5'8. Her skin was pale, brown hair, close to red, and dark eyes. She seemed very young" He handed the note to Declan after reading it. "Did she tell you exactly what happened?" I questioned. "She said she was grilling outside with her husband, while her pups were playing a few feet away. She went into the house to get something when she heard breathing in the other room. When she walked in, she saw the rogue with a bag full of her stuff. Linzie mind linked me that there was someone on her house but she didn't respond after a couple of seconds as the rogue had attacked her quickly and fled before anyone could get to her. Linzie's mate claimed the rogue's fur was a light grey. Luckily, the rogue shifted in the house, leaving behind her shredded clothing that is covered in her scent" I perked up at his words. "Do you have it with you?" He shamefully shook his head. "I apologize, my King. I left the clothing piece in a bag at my office." I nodded in understanding but was slightly pissed. My wolf seemed desperate to catch this rogue, for some reason. She might have hurt the pack member, but nothing a day in the infirmary couldn't fix. "Bring me the clothing pieces as soon as possible." He nodded. "The people of my pack are growing wary, they need an appearance from their leader and I'm not cutting it out anymore." Alpha Joel stated, his mate placing a comforting hand on his arm. While my wolf whined at the sight, I noticed I wasn't the only one in the room that was jealous of the sight of the two mates showing each other affection. Not finding your mate is one of the worst things that could happen to a werewolf. Alpha Dominic looks to be holding himself back and I was about to ask if he needed to step out to calm down his wolf but he seemed to calm down quickly. Being an Alpha without a mate makes it harder so is to keep our wolves under control but you learn as time goes by. Knowing that our mates are out there, somewhere, helps a lot. My wolf imagines a strong she-wolf as our mate, a woman fit to be a Luna and Queen. I couldn't care less if she was fit or not. I just want her as soon as possible. "I will address each pack, but we must plan hunts first. We will start by the northern border of the Cresent Moon Pack, then work from there, but I want the clothing pieces before then." Alpha Darran nodded in agreement, along with the other Alphas and Lunas. It was silent for a minute, everyone collected with their thoughts. "How did the Jadestrike Clearing go? Successful?" I asked Alpha Darren, knowing that was his mission despite it being on Wave Rock Territory. "It went fine. Some gave us a fight and we were forced to kill them but the rest are now in our cells. Now, the rogue..." I zoned out for a second. He was lying. I decided it wouldn't be the best idea if I addressed the fact that he just lied to me because his wolf was already on edge from the rogue. The Jadestrike Clearing was a mission that I ordered to be handled. I was told that a few dozen rogues were hiding out there and I asked Alpha Darren to take care of it. "Alpha Darran, did your pack member not smell the rogue at all?" Alpha Ross asked, breaking the silent room. Alpha Darran furrowed his eyebrows then nodded. "None of the members of the family smelled the rogue, neither did my border patrol." Everyone adsorbed the new information. Declan suddenly perked up and sent me a look. I opened my mind for a second, enough for him to send me a quick mind link. “How young is the she-wolf? She might be looking for her mate” he said through the mind link. The people at the table stared at me expectantly but once they caught my stare, their eyes dropped to the floor. "How old might the she-wolf be?" I asked the Alphas, but none gave me an answer at first. "With the experience she has, she must be older than 20." Alpha Ross stated. "But Alpha Darran's pack member said she looked young. "Luna Madelina argued, making a good point. "If she is older than 16, her wolf will be anxious to find their mate." Alpha Dominic reasoned, making them all silent. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Darran curl his lips into a scowl. "Or maybe she was rejected by her mate and that's what caused her to go rogue." The idea made sense but it didn't sit well with me. My wolf seemed to disagree also. Instead of being silent like usual, my wolf grew irritated by the Alphas and Lumas in the room. "She might just be scared." All their head snapped to mine, for a second at least, before they were looking back down when I sent a deep growl out of my mouth. "Can you elaborate, King Cale?" Luna Bella asked with a curious tone. Luna Bella is one of the Alphas and Lunas that I am closest to. Her mother was a maid that worked for my family for a long time. Bella and I grew up together. I have always seen her as my little sister. One I can be quite protective of, especially when she found out she was mates with Alpha Joel, who is more than twice her size. But Joel is a good man and I couldn't have picked a better man to be her mate. I thought about what I said for a second and realized what I said, could easily be true. "She's young and most likely mateless. She has this power she was cursed with and people are trying to kill her for it. And you, Alpha Darran, said she snuck into your pack member's house with a bag so that indicates that she wanted supplies." They acted thoughtful but I knew they didn't want to believe that. They were angered by the thought of the rogue. She hurt a pack member and their wolves wanted revenge because of it. Joel, Bella, and Dominic had a look of pity on their faces. They are probably the only ones that I have convinced. "If we just sent hunters after her, we know they don't stand a chance against her. We don't know what's she capable of and, honestly, I don't want to find out using hunters." They nodded along. "I'll lead hunts to find her but if I have the chance, I'm going to try and negotiate." That seemed to wake everyone up. Alpha Darran stood up from his seat and glared down at me. "This dirty rogue is reckless and dangerous. She has nearly killed pack members. I want her tortured and hung for her crimes and you want to talk with her?" His wolf was on the surface, but that wasn't an excuse for him to talk back to me like I was one of his pack members. "Sit your ass down, Darren." He realized he overstepped his boundary and quickly sat back down "Plan hunts among yourselves then finalize them to me and I'll join. I'll alert each of you when I'm ready to address your pack soon. And bring that clothing piece as soon as possible, Darran. Meeting dismissed." The room was nearly clear within a few seconds, leaving only a few, including Alpha Dominic. He was too busy staring down at the table to realize I dismissed the meeting. Before I could get to him, Bella jogged up to me and gave me a big hug. "Et vos desiderabat, Bubba. (I missed you, Bubba.)" She said as she clung onto me. "Adfui etiam. Joel bene tractata? (I missed you too. Joel treating you well?)" She giggled at my question as she snuck a glance at her mate behind her. "Scilicet. Et protinus te videre, te diligere. (Of course. I'll see you soon, love you.)" She said as she pecked me on the cheek. "Te etiam amo (Love you too)" I whispered as I placed a kiss on her forehead. She gave me a smile before turning and leaving the room. Latin was a language that all royals must learn. Bella picked up a bit of it from hearing it around the castle so much. I quickly mind linked my Beta and Delta to meet me in my office. Once they left the room, I was alone with Dominic. I leaned on the table by Dominic's side as I let him snap out of his thoughts. "My apologizes, My King." He said as he tried to stand up but I placed my hand on his shoulder and gently pushed him back down. "How's your wolf?" I asked, making sure not to anger his wolf with my tone. His blue eyes flashed to a much darker color before returning to his normal color. "Not good”He answered quietly. "Stay hopeful, you won't regret it when you find her." He accepted my answer with a deep exhausted sign. He gave me a firm look before leaving the room. I took my time as I walked to my office. "Do you truly believe the she-wolf is just scared?" I shrugged at my Delta's question as I entered. "I can't be sure but I do know that she's young and hasn't found her mate. If she has gotten rejected, like Alpha Darran said, her attacks would have been messier and the victims would be injured far worse." They agreed but still held disgust for the rogue. By their tense shoulders, I knew they weren't pleased with that meeting and probably wanted to say something. Declan was seated on the couch in my office while Litton was leaning against the back wall. They seem to be struggling with their words. "Just spit it out" I growled. Litton gestured for Declan to speak, making him roll his eyes. "They aren't going to listen to a word you said." His words didn't surprise me. "Elaborate" I commanded, getting annoyed. My wolf was irritated and needed a run. "There is no way Darran is going to let you just talk to the she-wolf. If he gets the chance, he's going to kill her, most likely killing himself in the process." I nodded in agreement. "He's the only Alpha I'm worried about getting hurt, but I'll make sure that he never gets that chance." He seemed to like my answer and remained quiet once I answered. "Is that all?" I questioned while getting back on my feet. They swiftly nodded. "Do you want us to come with?" Litton asked, already knowing that my wolf needed to be let out. I shook my head on my way out of the door.
