The cold night breeze touched Arieda's cheeks who is still wide awake. She glanced at her little brother who was on the the other bed across hers and has already fallen deeply asleep. "Any minute now, i'm about to turn 11." she sighed. The thought that her mother wouldn't make it home for her birthday made her felt miserable. Glancing back to the ceiling, something made her felt uneasy and heavy at the moment although she couldn't figure out what is it. She sat up on her bed and decided to close the windows. As she was about to get back to her bed, she saw her dad entering their gates below. After entering and locking the gates, he then turned around unsteadily with eyes slightly closed. He's drunk again, Arieda thought. As he walked to the house, he glanced at the windows above and caught Arieda looking at him which startled her. She then immediately went back to her bed and covered herself with her sheets. It's happening again. There's no one else inside the house, except for her little brother who has fast had fallen asleep. Her mother is currently in States working as a nurse. How she wished her blankets could make her teleport to her mom, unfortunately, all it does is suffocate her and can't even protect her right now. She heard the footstep of his father coming from the bottom stairs. Every steps gave an echo louder than the thumping of her own heart. Every steps was excruciating she can't help it but cry. She was just turning eleven, there is no other escape, she already knew that. She always did. The footsteps grew louder and louder until it suddenly stopped. Her lungs hurt as she cried hard in silence. She has to keep it silent or things might get worse. The door opened which her body quickly responded with a shiver. She tried hard to stop her shaking and sobbing. She felt her dad getting closer to her, staring her under the covers. Arieda could tell he is now too close because she could smell the strong scent of alcohol.
"You are just like your mom," he softly whispered, "you are beautiful."
He slowly slid his hand upward from her foot, to her legs, and between her thighs. She want to scream, but she knew that there would be no amount of screaming that could save her. Finally, her dad's hand trailed to her slit, drawing circular motions around.
"You're always making me hard," he whispered closely into her ear, as he pressed and grind his hand onto hers harder. Arieda wants to scream as she felt the pain, physically and mentally. He uncover the sheets from Arieda who kept her wet eyes closed. At least in that way, she could somewhat convince herself that none of those was happening, that all of those was just some kind of twisted dream.
"My baby, you're getting older but you'll always be mine.." He whispered in her ears which made her quiver. His hands trailed onto Arieda's breast. He didn't helped it but moaned in satisfaction. He undressed Arieda's tops aggressively it could have ripped off. "Please dad, stop.." Arieda begged with voice slightly shaking, but her father seemed to hear nothing at all. He pulled her pajamas off and revealed her tight underwear which aroused him even more. He sniffed her underwear, and sniffed deeper on the second time around. "Dad, please.." He slowly took off her underwear. He pulled her legs apart and stared hungrily. Arieda finally opened her eyes, tears trickling in her cheeks. Even if she was scared, she looked into the eyes of her very own father and pleaded for the last time. "Please daddy, stop.." He just looked her in the eyes for a mere second, then unzip his pants. He slid his erection onto her very own daughter. Tears still streaming on her cheeks while staring deadly on the ceiling, but her sobbing stopped. The clock struck its hand at 12. It's her birthday. It hurt her a lot, hurt more than her mom not making it to her birthday, and hurt even more than any pain caused by her own flesh and blood. She was internally screaming in pain. However, she wasn't shaking at all. Her pulse even slowed down back to normal. She kept on jerking up and down but until then, the world went on a sudden silence and total voidness.
Like a deep dark ocean. It was pitch dark yet it was still.
Arieda woke up and found herself crying. Not again, she thought to herself as she got pissed off. It has been 7 years yet everything seemed to just happened yesterday for Arieda. She sat up on her bed and wiped her tears annoyingly. It's 5 in the morning. She reached for her mobile phone and opened her unread messages.

"Birthdays, huh? You mean, cursed day." She scorned while reading all the endless messages. She threw her phone on her side and went to the mirror and combed her long ebony hair. Her skin always gave a unique kind of glow, perfect for her alluring lips. Her eyes was puffed from crying, but her hazelnut-colored eyes still stood out but most of all, it seemed cold and empty. A sudden knocked on the door made her jumped from where she sat. The door opened and her mother who is still wearing robes went inside.
"Mom for the nth time, I said i don't want any celebration, okay?"
She said while looking her through the mirror.
"But Red, it's your 18th birthday for Pete's sake! Everyone badly wants to throw a celebration for you. I already got a lot of backed up plans if you ever changed your mind and want a party--"
"My decision is final. Please stop. You're getting annoying."
Arieda's mom pursed her lips and heaved. She went closer to her daughter and hold both of her shoulders from her back. She looked Arieda from the mirror. They both have the same complexion, except for her mother's hair which used to be blonde.
"Arieda, you are the strongest person I know. But you have to not let the past hold you back."
Arieda stood up and looked her mother in the eyes coldy.
"How easy for you to say that, mother. How easy for you to tell me not to hold onto those bullshits. Were you there, mother?"
She turned around and looked her mother with contempt. "Where were you?"
Arieda walked away and headed outside her room. Her mother was left dumbfounded. She sat in her daughter's bed as her body weakened from the disgraced she felt. She clasped her hand to her mouth and cried.
