KIARA
"I think I see something. She's... She's coming up!" I heard voices in the background. It was too loud and disturbing.
I couldn't feel my body nor could I make out where I was. All I saw was darkness and... "...Make sure she and that child is dead..." Queen Nora's voice. I heard it echoing in the darkness, along with Ray's words.
Everything is coming back to me. I remember what happened.
"She's back!" The voice yelled, forcing me out of the darkness. I opened my eyes and found myself in the hospital, with doctors surrounding me in what looked like a surgery room.
I couldn't speak. There was something like a hose in my mouth, which went down inside my throat, releasing something in me.
The doctors looked relieved, as another sent a nurse out of the room to inform someone of my awake. "Let him know that the patient and the baby are safe. But we just need to round up things here."
"Alright, Doctor," The nurse said, leaving the room.
From what the doctor said, I realized Ray and his mother actually dumped me to die somewhere outside of Shadow pack, and I was somehow brought to the hospital by someone, who saved mine as well as my baby's life.
My child. We both survived! Thank you Goddess.
After some minutes, I was cleaned up and taken to a special room. It didn't take long for me to get a visitor from a very handsome man with deep black hair and blue eyes, whom I believe to be my savior.
With the way the doctors and nurses greeted the stranger, I knew he was the one that saved my life.
He stepped into the room and sat right next to me, staring into my eyes before saying, "Thank the heavens you and your child survived. How are you feeling?"
"Um... Good," I responded, feeling shy.
Lowering my head at the stranger, I forced out a thank you from my mouth to show my appreciation.
He gave me the sweetest smile and suggested I lay down and rest. "The Luna will be here to see you soon. She's the one you need to thank."
"Luna?" Who's that?
I later got my answer when the Luna in question showed up. An elderly lady with the strong face of a fighter, and the aura of a fearless beast, came to see me as the stranger had said.
When I met her, I was shocked to realized that the Luna wasn't an ordinary woman but a well-known wealthy and tough business tycoon around the werewolf packs!
The Owner of Wolf Corp, Queen Avara! I recognized her face from the TV. Ray always spoke about her being a cruel and stubborn woman. Still, he wishes to work with her and get his company to a higher level. She's seen as a hard shell to c***k and always came at the top in the business world.
For an old lady, she sure is powerful and dominant.
She came into the room with that stranger from earlier and said to me, placing her hand on my shoulder, "Do you feel any better?"
In her presence, I looked like a shrimp. Reminding myself of my level before the Queen, I lowered my head at her and replied, "Yes, ma'am."
"Hmm, that's fine," She said, drawing away, before exiting the room with the young man.
I don't know how it happened, but everything went so fast. The Queen paid my bills and took responsibility over me. She even brought me down to her mansion and gave me a special room where I'd stay and resume with my treatment until I was fully recovered.
"Make yourself at home," She had said, running her fingers in my hair with a smile on her face.
This felt so strange. This woman knows nothing about me, yet she's treating me so nicely. What if she thinks I'm some girl from a wealthy family who went missing?
Worried, I managed to voice out at once, to avoid any future problem. "My Queen, thank you so much for saving my child and I, but... I'm not who you think I am."
"Did I ask if you were a beggar or a slave?" She questioned, lifting her brow at me.
I went shut, feeling embarrassed for making that statement. But surprisingly, the Luna smiled.
She chuckled and said, sitting next to me where I laid, "Don't look at the fact that I'm a Queen and you're just a commoner. I am not a horrible person that leaves a dying mother and her unborn child at the entrance of my pack to rot away. It's my responsibility as the Queen of Moonwave to see to such problem."
"Oh, I... Thank you again," I stammered, lowering my head down.
"It's fine, " She said, rising to her feet.
"You're lucky my bodyguard, Jeffrey, found you when those bastards dumped you on the road. He was the one who brought you down to the hospital."
"Jeffrey?" That was the young man's name. He truly was my savior. Only that the Queen handled the rest by playing her role as the Luna.
"Just rest and feel at home... What's your name? " She asked, leaning her head to the side.
Despite the way things were going, I felt safe before the Queen. She isn't as bad as Ray described her. She's wonderful.
"Kiara."
"Kiara? That's a lovely name," She commented, smiling once more. I had no choice but to return the gesture, showing my calmness around her.
"Rest now, Kiara," She said, leaving me in the room.
And since that day, I became a part of the Queen's life. She became the mother I never had, making sure I took my medication and meals on time. She always returned back to the mansion with nice gifts for me and my unborn baby, even though the little one was yet to be born. She just became a part of my world in such a short period.
Her love and care made me a different person. I was no longer the maid of old, but a new Kiara with plans to make her future bright.
But one fateful night, my life was branded in a way I didn't expect.
Queen Avara was sitting at the balcony all alone, staring out to the night. She had sent for me to come join her, and I did.
Sitting together, she asked while sipping from her drink, "Tell me... Is your baby's father that lowlife Alpha from Shadow pack?"
My heart skittered at her question. How did she know?
