Chapter 3

KIARA My eyes were wide, still fixed on the Queen. She looked at me and said, smirking out, "Shocked? Don't be. I sent Jeffrey on a little mission and he dug this information out." She chuckled, sipping her drink again. I'm surprised that she went behind my back to investigate about that night. Gosh! Why did she have to speak about that monster? I promised myself that I wouldn't talk about my past but bury it away for good. And now... "Was he your mate?" She asked, tapping her index finger on her glass. Feeling the hate, I said, looking elsewhere, "I don't wish to talk about it." Queen Avara scoffed at my statement. "You don't want to talk about it? Oh please. If you choose to keep it in you forever, you will only kill yourself by crying indoors." The memory is enough to kill me. How I wish I never met Ray. The sound of her glass hitting the table, forced me to turn back and look at the Luna. She leaned into her seat comfortably and said, looking at the sky, "When you speak about your pain, it only makes you stronger, Kiara. How did you think I got to this point?" Her eyes fell back on me. She no longer smiled but became serious. But that statement she made last. What does she mean? "Let me tell you a story, girl. There was an innocent lady who sacrificed her whole world to be with the man she loved. She was his mate and did whatever he wanted. If he wants her to run away with him, she'd do it. If he wants her to speak ill of her family, she would obey. And if... he tells her to abort their babies a hundred times..." Her eyes shimmered, showing the pain that was buried within. "She'd do it as well." "Despite all this, he kept her in the dark about a secret she never knew until she found out herself. He was an Alpha and was ready to be married to a more beautiful and sweet flower," She chuckled, grabbing her glass. The story was beginning to sound so much like my case, but different. Queen Avara went on to tell me about this girl and how she killed the innocent side in her to become a vengeful beast out for blood. "And she made sure that bastard paid with everything he had. And that was me, " She chuckled, sipping her wine. "I was that stupid girl who allowed a fool to take my dreams away from me, all in the name of love. He thought I was weak but I showed him a side he never expected. And up till now..." She lifted her wine into the air and said, " I still celebrate my victory while the bastard rots six feet under the ground." "Does that mean you..." I gulped when I saw how her eyes sparkled, confirming my suspicion. "Six feet under the ground," she giggled. I understood her story perfectly well. She exacted her revenge on the man who ruined her life, by taking his title, his company, and his life. No wonder she's hard to get through. "Waiting for the heaven's to pass judgement on your enemy might actually mean you should take the step and deal with the situation, before the heaven will intervene. It's like the saying goes, heaven helps those who helps themselves," She smirked, drinking. I flashed back to Ray and the pains he caused me. It made my hatred for him increase, forcing tears out of my eyes. "I want to get back at him. I want to hit him where it hurts so badly!" "And you will, " Queen Avara said, taking hold of my tightened fist. Her face became dull, as she said sharing a secret I never expected to hear, "Maybe this is destiny. Maybe the Goddess knew I needed someone to fill the gap in my heart, that's why she sent you to me." "I have no children to call my own. But your presence made me feel the love of a mother for the first time. I felt happy," She smiled, caressing my hand and calming my mood. That's when she grinned and said, "The Goddess sure is amazing. She knew this old lady had little time left in this world, that's why she sent you to me. Isn't that amusing?" Her words shocked me. Queen Avara... She's dying?! She shared her sickness with me and told me how troubled she has been, thinking about empire. "But I can now rest, knowing that you will take good care of it for me." "Me? What do you mean by..." "Kiara," she interrupted me. "You are going to inherit my empire when I'm gone. You are the only one worthy of this." "But Queen Avara, I don't know how to run one! I'm not from a rich family. I'm a nobody." "You will. Jeffrey will guide you through. He also supports my decision in this. He feels you're perfect, and I believe his words." She patted my hand, causing me to feel emotional. In sadness, I embraced the Luna, wishing she'd survive this sickness and stay with me. I really need her around when my baby comes into this world and starts taking his first steps. I don't want her to leave. "I know I made the right choice," She said, lifting me off her body and cupping my face. "You're my perfect copy. Just the right woman to rule when I'm gone. But first..." She wiped off the tears from my eyes and said with seriousness, " Stop crying. No daughter of mine will shed tears. I'm going to help you convert your pain into your strength. If you're going to be the Luna of Moonwave one day, then you need to be tough and strike all those that brought you pain." I sniffed, holding back my tears, staring into her gaze. "Trust me, I'll make you a whole new person. And when you start your work, the result will marvel you," Queen Avara promised, smirking at me. The thrill and fire in her could be felt. She was desperate to transform a weakling like myself to a beast out for revenge. And I don't care what it takes to end my old life and become a new creature. I want to be like Queen Avara. If she was able to make her scumbag lover pay for his crime, then I can do the same. Ray will regret the day he poisoned my child and I. He'll pay dearly for everything.
