Chapter 6: She's a what?!

Mia’s eyelids fluttered open, the world around her blurry at first. A familiar face slowly came into focus. “Mia?” a voice said, soft and relieved. “You’re awake.” Her vision cleared, and she saw Luna leaning over her, her brows furrowed in concern. Mia slowly sat up, wincing as a dull ache coursed through her limbs. “Where… where am I?” Luna gently supported her back. “Easy, girl. Take it slow.” She let out a nervous laugh, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “I found you right outside my door… at midnight.” Mia’s eyes widened. “What?” “I don’t know how you got there or who brought you. You were just… lying there, looking... lifeless.” Luna raised a brow. Before Mia could answer, a calm, deep voice came from the corner. “She was unharmed too.” Mia turned to see Dr. Christopher, standing with his hands tucked into his coat pockets. Luna rolled her eyes. “Well, of course I’m going to panic. She’s my best friend. What do you expect?” Dr. Christopher offered a small smile. “When a doctor tells you there’s no injury, internal or external, you trust him. She just seems exhausted. Likely from fatigue or stress.” Luna sighed. “Thank you, Dr. Christopher. I promise I won’t drag you into my drama next time.” He turned his gaze to Mia. “Drink plenty of water. And maybe… avoid late-night wandering. We don’t want this happening again.” With that, he gave a nod and stepped out, leaving the room in silence. Luna turned to Mia. “You haven’t still told me what happened last night.” Luna smirked. "Did you have a drink? A wild night with some guy?” Mia froze. Her mind raced. Flashes came back to her. Running, in fear, the feeling of being lifted off the ground. She remembered claws. Fangs. A shadowy figure holding her, running at an inhuman speed. She remembered thinking' WEREWOLF'. But that couldn’t be real… right? She glanced at Luna, hesitating. She knew if she told her the truth, Luna would laugh it off. Or worse, think she was losing it. So instead, she muttered, “I was drunk.” Luna raised a brow. “You? Drunk? That’s new.” “Well…” Mia shrugged, forcing a smirk. “There’s a first time for everything.” Luna chuckled and stood. “You better start getting ready. We’re going to be late for work.” As Luna stepped out, Mia made her way toward the wardrobe, grabbing some fresh clothes. But her mind was far away. That night… someone saved me. Or something. A man? A beast? A werewolf? She closed her eyes for a second, reliving the memory, the arms that held her, the strength, the darkness in the eyes she saw. Who are you? She needed to find out. And she would. --- INT. LETTERLUX MOTORS — ADRIAN'S OFFICE — DAY Daniel stepped into Adrian’s office, the door clicking shut behind him. “So,” he said, arms folded, “what's your brother plotting this time?” Adrian’s eyes were on his laptop, fingers tapping across the keys. He looked up slowly at the sound of Daniel’s voice. “I don’t know what he’s up to,” Adrian said, “but with that smirk on his face, I know it’s not something good.” He sighed, closed the laptop with a soft thud, and leaned back in his chair. “Has there ever been a time he was up to something good?” Daniel added with a scoff. “If there’s one thing I know about Xavier, it’s that he can be very sneaky. And when he smiles like that, you just know he’s planning something dark.” Adrian said. Daniel glanced away, tension in his eyes. “You think he still has eyes on the Moonclaw Pack?” Adrian’s expression darkened. “He'd never let it go. Ever since my father decided I'd take over, Xavier’s been...bitter. He still wants to be the Alpha.” “He hasn’t said anything in a while though,” Adrian added, “but now that he’s shown up again… I know he’s planning something.” Just then, the door opened and Victor K stepped in, professional as always. “I’ve already placed a call to Gabriel, Catherine, Matthew, Justin, Caestine, and Lucas to reschedule the meeting for Saturday.” Daniel turned to Victor, then back to Adrian. “But sir, you don’t think he’s acting alone, do you?” Victor said. “He’ll need numbers.” Daniel replied immediately, “ I've fought him before and if there's something I can confirm, is that xavier is strong, but he’s not stronger than all of us together. And he’s not dumb enough to attack alone. He must have allies. He’s building something.” Adrian leaned forward, his voice steady. “I don’t know what his next move is… but we’ll be ready.” The room fell into silence. Daniel’s gaze drifted toward the table and spotted a letter beside the laptop. He picked it up and unfolded it casually and read it. “Adrian, is this for you?” Adrian turned sharply, cheeks reddening the moment he saw it. He quickly snatched the letter from Daniel’s hand. Daniel laughed. “Don’t tell me you already have a girlfriend?” Adrian didn’t reply. Daniel grinned wider. “No wonder you said things were getting serious. You’re in love.” He nudged him. “So who’s the mystery girl? Someone from our pack? Or… from the Lunar Pack?" Adrian stayed quiet, but Victor stepped in smoothly. “She’s human.” Daniel froze, his eyes widening. “She’s what?!”
