Pat and Lina were working on the periphery of the taskforce reviewing a number of drug related deaths that had been initially treated as suicides. The taskforce, created after the findings of a recent homicide investigation suggested some of the deaths may have been staged to look like suicides, was being led by a Chief Superintendent. Inspector Smith’s team was a small component of the team assigned to the investigation. In a way, it was like working on any other cold case, however, their role had been restricted to reading statements, trolling through case notes, and joining dots for the lead investigators.
