Chapter 25

777 Words

Bob Davenport stopped his Police Toyota about five hundred metres south of the group of buildings that had once been the heart of Ketchowla Station and studied them through his binoculars. There was no sign of movement. The STAR Group team’s black SUV that had followed him at a distance came to a halt behind the Toyota. Bob walked back to their vehicle and pointed towards the buildings visible on the open ground ahead of them. ‘See anything?’ said Sgt Moss, climbing out of the SUV. ‘No sign of a vehicle or any movement,’ said Bob, ‘but that doesn’t mean they’re not here.’ ‘Right boys, let’s get the bird in the sky,’ said Sgt Moss. Bob watched as the three members of the team assembled and then deployed their surveillance drone, which was equipped with both visual and thermal cameras.
