Chapter 34

688 Words

Sue Marshall sucked absent-mindedly on an arm of her glasses as she sat at her kitchen table and thought about what she wanted to say in her victim impact statement. She’d been denied thirty years of Jane’s life and the opportunity of being a grandmother to her daughter’s children, but the pain of her loss had long since gone. Life had continued in the years following Jane’s disappearance. She’d married and buried Kevin and become the grandmother of her stepson’s daughter. She’d been in shock the day Bob Davenport had told her they’d found Jane and Andrew’s remains, even though it had been news she’d been expecting for thirty years. She’d known all along Jane and Andrew were not coming home. In a way, she and Cynthia had helped each other come to terms with what life had thrown at them.
