Chapter Ten “I accepted it,” Stacey said to Amanda the next day at the restaurant, “It’s a nicer place than here, and it’s something, at least.” Amanda nodded, pouring herself what was probably her fourth cup of coffee. “Sounds good. You said they close at midnight? I haven’t actually ever been there.” That morning, Stacey had gotten a job offer at a diner down the street from where she currently worked. It was a fifties-themed place that seemed to bring in steady clients. When she interviewed there last week, they actually had a lunch rush. She couldn’t recall the last time she had handled a rush of any sort. They closed at midnight, which meant she could still swing a second day job. She was starting to lose hope at ever finding an office job. “Yup. So, I have that covered at least.”
