MR. BARTENDER

2133 Words
Devyn POV Knock, knock, knock. I practically bang her door down. This woman is deaf. Who could listen to the television that loud all day long? Bruna answers with a cigarette hanging from her lip, “What now? Didn’t I tell you everything the last time you were here?” Frustrated but composing myself because I’m out for blood against this Dr. Teagan Moss, “So nice to see you Mrs. Garnets. I just have a few more questions but it shouldn’t take too long.” Bruna, “Well come in. Don’t expect me to put out my smokes this time. Last time I was being nice.” I just sit there with my eyes closed for a moment and start to take a deep breath but decide that might not be the best idea. I came here with all intentions of being pleasant. There are some pieces missing and I just need to figure them out.” “Ok, Bruna. Look! You don’t like me. I get it. BUT! I’m your best shot at frying this doctor for possibly murdering your daughter. So, either you sit your ass down and tell me what I need to know or that jackass will walk. Understand?” Bruna, “Well I’ll be damn. There’s the fire I was looking for. I was beginning to think you were adopted or something. Your father would have kicked my ass long before now!” I can not believe the words that just came out of this woman’s mouth. Seriously? All this time she was trying my patience. “You knew my father?” Bruna, “Uh, yes!  Your mother and father were close with me at one time. Then I met this a…. man outside the pack. Your dad warned me to stay away. Well, you know how love works. I didn’t listen and when I returned to the pack broken hearted, I just never reconnected with them. By that time, you were born and they were both busy with their own lives.” “I had no idea. I’m sorry things didn’t work out. Now since that’s out of the way, how about you share with me things about Saliana so I get to know her better.” Bruna, “My beautiful Saliana. She had dreams. Big dreams. I tried to warn her not to go down the same path as I did.” She stops like she’s reliving the past. “She only started working at that s**t hole to make some money until she could make it bigger. Months started rolling by. She would mention a guy that she liked but insisted that it was just a fling and nothing serious. Then about 4 months ago, a new man entered her life. He was her mate. I could tell immediately.” She takes another big draw from the cigarette. “She was so giddy. She wouldn’t tell me who which I should have pushed. The only thing she would say is that he was important and had to get things taken care of before they made their relationship official. I mean, what kind of a mate or man isn’t proud of my daughter. She even stopped talking of dancing and more about being a wife and mother. When she told me that she was expecting a pup – that’s when I insisted that she force the issue. You know 4 ½ to 5 months is all werewolves carry pups. She would have been 3 months when she was murdered.” Bruna says puckering her lips. “Bruna, can I ask you why? Why didn’t you want the pup? Really?” I say in a way for her to continue. “Well, I did but then I found out that the Alpha of Frostcrest Pack had taken the pup into his home. Look at this place – how could I possibly give a baby a real home? I heard the baby is a girl. I’m sure that she will be treated like a princess. That’s why I said I didn’t want the baby. It’s for the best.” She then takes another long puff and at least blows it the opposite direction of me. “What about friends? Did Saliana mention any friends?” Bruna, “Her roommate also worked at the club. The didn’t get along very well but she was the closest thing to a friend. In that line of work, it’s cut-throat. Saliana said all the girls were jealous of her because the two guys I mentioned only wanted her and none of them. Saliana said she stripped of course but those were the only two guys she had slept with or should I say had s*x?” “So you have no clue who either guy is? Do you have the roommates name?” Bruna, “Her name was Bridget I think.” “Thanks Bruna! I’ll work hard to bring Saliana’s murderer to justice.” I leave her house and immediately head to the city where the club is located. It’s only 6pm when I arrive so I’m hoping not too many weirdo’s will be there. I appraise my self to make certain that I don’t look like one of the dancers. Not a chance. My outfit costs more than one of their wardrobes most likely. I have on a black pencil skirt with a white silk blouse. It’s all very form fitting. However, it looks like I just left a board room as opposed to walking into a strip club. There’s no way I’m pulling this off as a casual visit. There isn’t a bouncer at the door just yet since it’s early evening. I open the door to a poorly lit room. It’s dark except for the spotlight on the chick twirling around a pole in nothing but a thong. I stop and admire how she can lift herself in the position. I’ve never got the hang of a pole dance. Maybe I’ll put that on my bucket list. Bartender, “What brings a sophisticated lady like you into a place like this?” He stares at me for a sec before saying, “Wait! Let me guess. Boyfriend cheating and you found out this is where he is when he says he’s visiting his grandmother?” I give him a wholehearted laugh, “That was good! I was expecting something lame.” Bartender, “You know – happens now and again. What are you having? First one is my treat.” “I think I’ll have a diet coke with a splash of amaretto. I know – weird. But it ends up tasting like cherry coke.” I wink at him. He has that bad boy vibe going on but sexy as hell. I can already hear Delilah yelling for me to jump his bones. Horney girl! “What actually brings you in?” He leans on the bar looking me deep in my eyes. “Devyn Holland.” I say extending my hand to his. “I’m an attorney and I’m investigating the death of Saliana.” I stop and wait for him to walk away avoiding my questions. Bartender, “She was one of the good ones, you know. I cannot believe when they said that she overdosed. She wasn’t a user. In fact, she had stopped dancing and was helping me out behind the bar because of her ‘condition.’ I kept telling her that she should go back to her pack but she wouldn’t. She was ‘in love’ with someone she met here.” “Any idea who?” Bartender, “Nah! Everyone here gives an alias. Unless you’re the Alpha or his son – no one cares who you are.” “Why them?” Bartender, “Don’t you know your Alpha or the next in line?” He asked this inquisitively. “Well yes but I thought you meant because they frequent here.” I say rolling my eyes because I feel like a dumb ass. Bartender, “Old man Alpha use to visit a lot. Now he just stays home and has them delivered to him.” “Has who delivered?” Bartender, “The dancers, of course. I’m sure they do more than dance if you know what I mean. It’s funny, Saliana would never go. She made certain that she wasn’t even on the list of being available for him. I guess she knew his request wasn’t just for dancing.” “And what about the son?” Bartender, “Player Bradford. He certainly is a ladies’ man. The poor lad has no idea what it’ll be like to be the Alpha. I don’t think he even wants that role.” I see him stop and ponder something. “Interesting, I haven’t seen him in a long time. He used to come by a few times a week. The girls would flock to him. I guess he was a good roll in the hay.” “Did Saliana ‘flock’ to him?” I say lifting my drink to take a drink and lick the rim. Bartender, “MMMM, I hope you like that drink. To answer your question, not to my knowledge. She didn’t sleep around much. She liked this one dude for a while but then nothing came of it. I’m not sure if the baby was his or someone else’s. She didn’t really talk much. The other girls disliked her and would talk s**t about her all the time.” “Any of them into drugs? Maybe they talked her into taking some.” Bartender, “I doubt it. They may smoke week but not the hard stuff. Guys want some meat on a body and teeth is always a plus.” He laughs. It’s a good thing I know that heroin makes you look deathly ill and many lose teeth. “What about that roommate of hers?” Bartender, “She left soon after Saliana’s death. Alpha Samus liked her a lot and offered her an ‘assistant’ position in the pack house.” “You’ve been a great help. How could I repay you?” You guessed it! I gave in to my wolf. Mr. Bartender has me in the storage closet holding onto a rack while he plunges into my dripping p***y. He is quite large and I’m so glad he’s a wolf. His nails are digging into my hips and it’s bringing me to a state of euphoria. He smacks my ass several times. I’m so close that I can feel the tightness move throughout my body. As I clench the rails tighter, the primal growl of ????. s**t I don’t know his name. f**k! It makes it even that more exciting. I feel it peak and squeeze even tighter as my spasm sends him over the edge. He fills his condom and releases from me. I turn around adjusting my skirt down into the proper position. Mr. Bartender is holding on to another shelf trying to catch his breath. I walk over to him and run my finger across his chest. “Appreciate all the information handsome.” I turn and head to the door and walk out. I’m glad I went on this mission instead of sending the investigators. It was just what my wolf needed. I get to the entry way ready to disembark from this s**t hole. My wolf suddenly perks up. I mean she was relaxed from our make out session so not sure why she is all of a sudden feeling feisty. She asks if I smell that and of course all I smell is s*x, nasty perfume, and body odor from all these sicko’s. I let her know that she’s just on a high from our escapades so she retreats to get some needed rest while I drive back to the pack house as soon as possible. I need a shower!
