FREYAH
I begged my Daddy and my eldest brother, Troy, not to tell Mommy about my true identity. She might be shocked, or worse, fall ill.
I may not remember them, but in my heart, I can feel them.
When night fell, Gillian and I were ready to leave, until the evil vampires suddenly arrived.
I couldn’t protect Gillian and everyone in the mansion at the same time. So I called out to the Vampire King in my mind; I needed his help.
I closed my eyes and gripped the pendant tightly. I waited for several seconds, but no one came.
I turned to Gillian, my mind torn between letting him go for the sake of my entire family’s safety.
If I chose my soulmate, my entire family would die, and Gillian’s sacrifice on the night he saved my parents would all be for nothing.
Desperate, I quickly grabbed Gillian’s hand while clutching the pendant on my chest, then shut my eyes.
When I opened them, we were already in my parents’ room. I saw the shock on Mommy’s face, and, good thing, Daddy immediately pulled her into his arms.
"I gently laid Gillian on the long sofa, then immediately went over to Mommy and placed my hand on her forehead. I erased from her memory everything she had seen, and I put her to sleep as well. After that, I said goodbye to Daddy. ‘I’ll come back, I just need to bring Kuya Troy and his family here.’"
“Wait, Freyah, what on earth is happening?” Daddy asked in a panic.
“I don’t have time to explain. Please stay here,” I said before holding my pendant again and closing my eyes.
When I opened them, I was already in my brother’s room. I immediately talked to him and told him to hold his wife’s and child’s hands. He did so without hesitation. A few seconds later, we were back in our parents’ room.
That’s when I noticed the Vampire King standing by the wall, accompanied by four armed men. I knew my family couldn’t see them, so they remained calm.
The Vampire King spoke to me through my mind. He gave me instructions, and I listened carefully, remembering every word.
But before we could finish talking, four werewolves suddenly appeared. I shut my eyes for a moment when I saw the fear on my family’s faces. I immediately approached them and said, “Please don’t be afraid, Daddy and you, Brother Troy. They won’t hurt you. The four werewolves are Gillian’s protectors. And the vampires who came with me are here to protect all of you as well.”
“W-What? You have a vampire with you in this room?” Daddy asked, his eyes widening.
Brother Troy looked just as shocked, but I quickly moved toward his wife and child. Just like with Mommy, I placed my hand on their foreheads and erased from their minds everything they had seen and heard. Then I put them to sleep as well.
“Yes, the Vampire King and his four men are here.”
“W—Why can’t we see them?” Daddy asked.
“Because all of you might get scared,” I answered anxiously.
But before Daddy and Brother Troy could say anything more, the Vampire King suddenly cut in.
“Freyah, it’s time, before more of your family’s people die.”
“Yes, Vampire King, I’m ready.”
“Tell them all not to leave this room. They must stay here until you return.”
“All right,” I said, turning to my whole family. “Daddy, Brother Troy, I have to go… I mean, we have to go. And no matter what happens, don’t leave this room.”
“Yes, sweetheart, be careful,” my father replied, though the panic on his face was still obvious.
I held the pendant and closed my eyes.
When I opened them again, we were already downstairs in the mansion. The evil vampires immediately attacked us.
But what shocked me even more was what happened next… three white wolves suddenly appeared beside me, surrounding me.
And when our eyes met, I instantly understood the message they carried.
They were my protectors… because of the werewolf blood within me.
I took a deep breath before giving instructions to the three werewolves. They immediately nodded and prepared to attack.
I turned to the other side and saw Vampire King fighting alongside his four subordinates.
“Focus, Freyah,” I heard the command echo inside my mind. I quickly concentrated, especially now that countless vampires were attacking us.
Closing my eyes, I held the pendant resting on my chest with both hands.
A few seconds passed before I felt the heat rising in my eyes and along my jaws. My fangs emerged, and as soon as I snapped my eyes open, every vampire who met my gaze burst into flames, the golden fire blazing from my eyes consuming them instantly.
The same happened to the three white werewolves. Every bite they delivered killed their target, and their eyes, just like mine, were burning with fire.
“Retreat! We can’t defeat them. That woman, she’s the true Golden Blood, fourth generation! Leave now before she kills us all!” shouted a man wearing a long cape.
I tried to look directly at him, but his men quickly blocked my line of sight.
Seconds later, the chaos began to fade. Many vampires had burned to ashes, many more had died, but their leader was gone.
The three white werewolves who served as my protectors began to slowly vanish as well.
In the end, only I and the Vampire King remained, along with his four subordinates.
“Vampire King, thank you very much,” I told him as I scanned the area. When I suddenly remembered the mansion staff, I rushed toward their quarters.
The moment I opened the door, they all ran away in fear, some even hiding under their beds.
“Listen, all of you. I don’t harm mortals, so you have nothing to fear from me or the people with me. We are protectors of innocent humans in the mortal world.”
“I-Is that true, Ma’am Freyah?” one of the maids asked, still trembling slightly.
“Yes. Trust me. And just like you, my father and my eldest brother, Troy, didn’t believe me at first. But when I explained everything, they eventually understood.”
“If that’s the case… may we go outside now?”
“Give me three minutes, and you may step outside.”
I said this before sweeping my hand through the air, erasing from their minds everything they had seen and heard. Then I turned my back on them and returned to the spacious living room. I swiftly waved both hands, and in an instant, the mess on the floor disappeared, the entire living room restored to its original order.
I walked toward the elevator to return to my parents’ room. I didn’t use my powers, I rode the elevator normally. With so many staff members in the mansion, they would definitely see me and panic again if I suddenly vanished in front of them.
When I entered my parents’ room, the Vampire King was already there with his four subordinates, standing quietly against the wall. The four Gray werewolves who protected Gillian were gone. Only Gillian… also known as Archie, remained on the sofa, still unconscious.
“Daddy, are you alright?” I asked in worry.
“Y-Yes, child. Thank you for saving all of us. Even though we can’t see them, please extend our deepest gratitude to all of them on behalf of our family.”
“Yes, Daddy. Would you like to see the Vampire King?”
“May we, child? So we’ll have an idea of what he looks like?” my father asked, a faint smile on his lips.
I glanced at the Vampire King, and when he nodded, I raised my hand. He slowly became visible, then stepped forward to face Daddy and Brother Troy.
“Hello. How are you? Were you scared of us?” the Vampire King asked, smiling apologetically. “I want to assure you that everything Freyah has told you is true. So please don’t worry, we do not consume human blood. The ones who attacked earlier are evil vampires. They only bring harm, and they came here because they intend to kill Freyah and Gillian, so they can freely spread evil in the human world.”
“Why do they kill?” Daddy asked.
“Because they want to increase their numbers. Every human they kill rises again, but not as humans. They become evil vampires.”
“What if they come back here while you’re gone?” Daddy asked again, still anxious.
“They won’t be able to find you easily. You are protected by Freyah’s powers. The only reason they saw you earlier was because Freyah and Gillian were there.”
“Does that mean that if a vampire comes to the mansion, there’s a possibility that the evil vampires could follow them here?” Daddy asked seriously.
“If the one coming is a family member of yours who carries vampire blood, then yes, they can see you. But if they’re not blood-related, the evil vampires won’t be able to detect your presence.”
“I see. I understand now, we really don’t need to worry even if Freyah isn’t here,” Daddy replied.
“You actually have another relative who is a vampire,” the Vampire King said, and I was even surprised by his revelation.
“What? W—What do you mean? Who is it, and how did another vampire end up in our family?”
“The father of your mother, Mr. Froi, when he was killed, I revived him, which turned him into a vampire. I did it because I knew he was Freyah’s great-grandfather. But he was later bitten by evil vampires, so I imprisoned him for a thousand years to prevent him from harming your family.”
“So that means Grandpa Emmanuel is still alive?”
“Yes, and he is close to being released.”
“How is that possible? You said you imprisoned him for a thousand years. But as far as I know, Grandpa died when I was just a baby?” Daddy asked, clearly unable to believe it.
“That is correct. But in the vampire world, a thousand years is equivalent to only sixty to seventy years in the mortal world.”
“So he’s really about to be freed… Can we see him?”
“Yes, once he’s released. But as I said, there’s a chance that evil vampires will follow him, and that would put all of you in danger.”
“Don’t worry, Daddy,” I said with a smile. “When Grandpa Emmanuel is finally free, I’ll accompany him here so you can meet him.”
“Alright, child. We’ll wait for you.”
“I promise, Daddy, we’ll come as soon as he’s released,” I assured him.
“I won’t stay long. I’ll take my leave now,” the Vampire King said.
“Thank you, Mr. Vampire King,” Daddy replied with a faint smile.
“Goodbye, everyone.”
And slowly, the Vampire King began to vanish from everyone’s sight, along with his four subordinates.
“Dad, Brother Troy, we’ll be leaving as well. Please tell Mommy that I’ll visit her soon.”
“Take care, child,” Daddy said, his voice trembling as tears threatened to fall. He pulled me into a tight hug, and my eldest brother, Troy, did the same.
I felt my chest tighten, emotions threatening to spill over. Before they could see my tears fall, I moved quickly toward Gillian— also known as Archie. I took his hands in mine, pressing our palms together as if anchoring myself. With a shaky breath, I closed my eyes and curled my fingers around the pendant on my chest, holding on to it as though it were the only thing keeping me steady.
