Chapter 1: News

Zen's POV;

Preparing some dishes as I listened to the news while one of my co-workers was cleaning the tables and the other one, as usual, sleeping at the couch. How I hate his habit.

"Kiel! Come on, do something! It's not a time yet to sleep!" I yell, hitting the table to wake him up.

"And what do you think should I do?" he calmly respond along with his eyes closed.

"Of course to help me out!"

But he just raise his eyebrows. As on his expression, he already judge me by that.

'This jerk! What if I whack his face?'

"Let me take care of it, Zen." a guy with a wavy hair answered instead.

He went straight ahead to the kitchen and continued my task himself. That guy didn't stop me being amazed by how he is.

He's a hard-working man, he moves fast and even also save our duty.

By the way, his name is Beltran Dionysus and we call him Ran. One thing he'll catch your attention, he has a thick and wavy dark violet hair and a blunt bangs which cover his entire eyes with a single braid hair in the left side, he's also pale. Some people were wondering on how he manage to see with his eyes invincible, but actually he can't see.

His movements might seems to be normal and a little bit fast but the fact is he really can't see.

Therefore, he can sense things through energy, forces, presence and whatever it is.

Nonetheless, his hearing ability is extraordinary that even a drop of water from meters away will still can be heard by him.

From the words extraordinary, that's where he belong, beside he isn't an ordinary human being either, and so we are. Aren't ordinary nor an regular employee.

One thing I hate about him, not literally but it's a big deal for me the facts that he always save Kiel from what I give a task fo that jerk, that really was an pain in a*s.

Anyway, we're working on the café who runs by the older brother of one of the famous detective in this city.

We serve for 24 hours. But sometimes, especially for the night, we help to investigate, except for our four co-workers that was just a part-time student. And we're seven in total but the rest was in the school today.

And as a worker of a brother of detective, we three was now also become his assistants so means that our side job is to help investigating. Countless case we hold, and currently, we already handled another case that was still under our investigation about the sudden explosion in the Chameleon Institution of National University's laboratory.

The incident was occured at 10 A. M. and was reported that half of staffs and employees, mostly are teachers has severe injury and was being confined in the hospital.

I was in the middle of my thoughts when suddenly Ran got out in the kitchen and saying he's done so we three were sitting in the couch. Waiting for the time to comes up.

"A ripped body was found this morning in the Hydra Park at 6:12 A.M o'clock. When reported, according to the police, it was killed last night around 10:00 P.M."

My ears suddenly grow when I heard the news.

"You should try to calm your mind Zen. What if a human will open the door and saw you with it?" Kiel says from the countertop.

I watch him while he's busy with making a cocktail so I ordered one yet he just raise his eyebrow.

'Tsk!'

I went to the refrigerator beside his spot and pulls out a beer instead, leaving Ran behind who's now listening like me.

"So Master Ezekiel, what happened last night?" Ran asked.

"I run into him." Kiel answered and drink his beverage.

"Who?"

"Guess he's here."

"That Vision Elite?"

"Who's here?" I frown, still not sure of what I've heard earlier.

He didn't answer but his lips form a smirk. My eyes widened.

'Wait..... I know that effing smirk!'

"Hmmmmm~"

He still didn't speak and eventually looking straight to his cocktail but I know that he's trying not to burst out after I get their topic, making my blood boil and run to my face as I gritted my teeth in embarrassed and frustration and annoyance.

"Stop that i***t! Geez!!" I yell.

I can't keep the awkward silence anymore. I went to the table and rest my head above and cover my face with my arms.

"Pftt-" I heard it.

I look at Ran sharply, making him shut up and cover his mouth with his long fingers.

"Oh Ran, you look like a homo with that."

"Master? You mean......gay?"

"Hmmm?" he scoffed.

I didn't mind them however, my fist shaking in asphyxiation, they really making the current situation worse. And I think, I might punch someone any minute from now if they won't leave me alone. I was entirely holding back at the beginning of this day if they have just known.

"Master, please stop. I'm not one of it and I know that I am me, and myself too, saying that I am straight.... unlike those person around.."

"Could you two just shut up!? Before I'll smack your face off with this chair, do you want it?!" I warned while glaring at them sharply.

"We didn't mention something." Kiel's smirk still didn't fade.

"I'm not a fool, I know what you mean! Just leave me alone!"

"What if I say no?" he resist.

I immediately grabbed the chair beside me but he quickly went into Ran and hide behind his back.

"Mr. Ezekiel Gotham Von Hassel, don't you dare to run away from me!!"

"Enzo, stop it! Control your temper, so don't be angry." Ran says while block me with his arms.

"Don't be involve with our matters, Ran or else I'll hit you instead!" I exclaim.

"Then go on Mr. Icarius~" Kiel replied with a mocking tone.

I lifted the chair up in the mid air and should throw it to Kiel when we heard a thing.

*dinnggg*

"Oh-"

The bell rings at the entrance and revealed a girl with a panicked expression written all over her face, especially when she keep turn to me and staring at me and the chair. I let a awkward smile and put it to the right spot and greet her with confidence.

"Welcome to the Moonlight Reaper Café."

"That's boring. Watch and learn!" he whispered but I just rolled my eyes.

'There he goes again.' I grit my teeth.

He went to the girl while walking gracefully and then vowed in front of her.

"Welcome to the Moonlight Reaper Café, Ma'am. We're at your service, what would you like to order?" he says then flash his smile.

But the girl still remaining speechless, making me almost scoffed but hold it still, she might think I'll be rude. But to my surprise, he took a closer look to the girl, almost his face reach her.

"What the hell?!" the girl slap him, making me laugh hard to the point my stomach hurts.

"You shouldn't greet a customer like that!"

"Unbelievable. Kiel, I didn't expect that bu- Hahahahahha!!" I can't stop laughing while thinking his face when he was being slapped.

"I know you're just new here. Based on your appearance, I didn't see you before but darn it, no one's dare to slap me like that in my entire life." he says while rubbed his face.

I take a look at her and his right. Messy bangs, bun hair, wearing a violet hoodie with a print of Wildcat and below of it was a small letters of kansas state university and a faded navy blue knee short with a flower pattern in the bottom of the left side.

"If you're not just being flirty then I shouldn't have slapped you!" the girl said.

"Ok then. There's nothing else for you to eavesdrop anymore, Axel."

"Still sharp Kiel, huh?"

"Good day Mr. Reaper" Ran vowed as he enters.

"What bring you here today sire?" I asked.

"For a part of business."

"As always." Kiel rolls his eyes as the detective pass through him and sat in front of the counter.

"One bottle of beer please!"

"Coming right up!"

I saw Kiel return to his spot as I went to the refrigerator and hear Ran apologizing to the girl.

"I'm really really sorry about the inconveniences we cause earlier." he was about to vow but she stopped him.

"No, no. It's fine, I'm alright at all. Oh please don't say sorry, it wasn't your fault."

"Thank you. I'm truly sorry-"

"Don't say it anymore, I'm fine. You can go back to them."

She cut him off and gently push his back away from her but he's still hesitate.

"Go on." she let a smile.

"Okay? Then be comfortable with here." he then left her and heading to the bar, letting her wander around.

A soft smile crossed my lips for a seconds.

"Oi, Axel. This place isn't yours and it's not free for you to come in and go out or take command as you want." I hear Kiel says.

"I know that always. It's all been my brother's property but I don't care, I'm also a part of his family. Beside he entrust this to me so there's nothing seems to be a problem in here, am I?" the detective frown.

"Oh, you don't get it. Aren't you?"

"What do you mean?"

"I am the 10th vampire prince of the Gotham Von Hassel family. I don't serve for nothing."

"I thought you already rid that family name of yours?" Axel sarcastically laugh but Kiel's reaction remain stoic.

"Shut up you peasant."

And to my surprise, Axel suddenly stood and enter to his bar but Kiel blocked him with his foot while his arms crossed and with his mostly expression, his annoying eyebrows.

"What the hell?"

"Oh, I thought you're giving me your special cocktail for free?"

"Back off." his voice were full of danger.

"Yeah yeah, as I say." the detective chuckled.

"Anyway, I'm came to interrogate her."

"What?" I was surprised when he meant her.

"Is she involved?" Ran ask as he pause.

Axel nodded. A silence came for a seconds as he continue drinking and Kiel scoffed.

"Ohh? I see. Humans are smart or just pretending to hide their dumbness."

"How can you say so? Are you also a detective? Watch your words." I gave him my warning look but he just show his uninterested reaction.

'How dare he?! This jerk! Darn it he really didn't fail me to piss him!'

I grit my teeth as the tension become heavy. Axel can also feel it so he cut us off before we'll get worst.

"Come on, boys! This is my business so you also mind your own business."

He smile tiredly and pat my shoulder and left to his workplace along with the girl behind him. Then I hear a noises and turn to the clock saw that it was already lunch time so I rushed to the door to open it widely, some just exactly reaches the stair to the café.

Some were old men and women and also, peer group of middle aged men. There were even students but I still didn't saw the four that also working here. Every one's already seated as Ran list down their orders one by one.

'Nevermind, why do I wait for them anyway. Beside, they can just barge in for work.

I was about to enter, seeing Ran was became busy yet he still shut his mouth and do the stuff, the four just came in time. Seems like they're having trouble judging from their messy uniform.

"How's the day guys?"

"Same as before Zen." George answered.

"We just got into a fight but thankfully, we arrived here." Ivan added.

"You jerk! If it's not because of you flirting with those girls then we shouldn't have to become a mess like this!" Laurence smack his head.

I look at Renji and he's still silent, watching the two arguing.

"Okay stop it. Could we now proceed to our jobs? Ran become so you guys help him out."

"Copy!" they went inside.
