Chapter 11: School Starts

Mei's POV;

I was running toward the gate because I know that later, the bell will rang around the campus, giving me another headache for the consequence I'll face later so I fasten my speed. I tried to catch my breath when I finally reached the railings and got relief seeing few students that was just also arrived.

"As expected, you're late again Ms. Scarlette." I roam my gaze, searching for the familiar voice and ended up in the familiar guy behind me.

I chuckled, "there's no times I would come early. Anyway, why are you also late? You're supposed to be early in the classroom, Rikkie."

"And you? Why are you always late?" He ask me back.

"I woke up late. Yeah, yeah you know me~ One and only~"

"Stop singing with those cringe song."

"One and only a late comer, dammit!"

"Pero ginusto mo naman yan. (But you prefer it anyway.)"

"What? I'm not!" I deny.

"What's the use of your alarm clock?"

"It was broken, I forgot to buy a new one."

"Because you did throw it?" I nod at his question.

"Where's your bag?" I ask, notice he didn't bring much things.

"It went ahead of me."

"Haha, silly. How's the presentation anyway?"

"All done. Now, be faster or they'll gonna make you run in the field again."

We then decide to proceed to the classroom. As we're walking in the hallway, a bunch of students and a group of girls was whispering as we walk passed through them.

Roxanne, the leader of the group and one of my enemy, look at me with a disgusting face as she rolled her eyes but I just ignored her. As usual, they would greet me like that but it doesn't concern me anyway and beside, Andgry and Rikkie knew the reason but I still won't give a hell.

"Where's Andgry?" I suddenly ask for not seeing him

"With my bag." He answered that makes me laugh.

And yeah, the bell finally rings so we waste no time and immediately ran to our room. As we enter, our classmates still have their own different worlds.

The others were talking, some were playing games at their phone and even some was having trouble but we still don't mind them. I was looking for him through his table and my guess was right, he was sleeping with his head inside his bag.

'What a weird guy.'

My lips suddenly formed a grin when a idea suddenly crossed my mind. I sneak to his table and took a peek inside his bag. Seeing him sleeping peacefully, I quickly grab the toy, a snake rubber that I brought and put it with my mini flashlight that point to the toy in front of his face and slowly zip his bag.

My heart was pounding in nervous and excitement while trying to hold my laugh but I accidentally bit my tongue, making me hissed in pain. I turn to Rikkie but he gave me a warning look, making me gulp but still, I ignored him.

With my trembling hands, I tie the both of the zipper with a thin thread through it's hole, the purpose is to hold the zipper for a minute but enough for him to cut it. After my schemes, I decide to wake him up so I took a deep breath and cleared my throat.

"Hey Andgry, wake up. Professor Catacutan is here." I lied and even mention our very strict adviser, just to wake him up.

I heard him groan and within a few seconds, a loud screaming broke the whole space of the room. Everybody quickly turn to our direction.

"SNAKEEE!! Holy s**t GET THIS JERK OUT OF MY BAAAGGGG!!"

Hearing a word 'snake', the others start to panic and also screams in fear while some dash toward the exit. Andgry grab the bag from his head but the thread I put prevent him to unzip it, making him shriek more in horror.

"Aaarrrgghhh!! I HATE SNAKE!!" He yell.

Then he finally open his bag with force and the toy fell from there. In the cause of panic, he accidentally throw it to the entrance, without knowing Professor was about to come in.

"Aaahhh!! Why is this thing inside the classroom?!" Ms. Catacutan clamored as she was stumbled from her spot, made her threw her papers that flew everywhere in suddenness.

We become froze and the room turn into quiet, as the students from another section took a glance in ours while looking at the teacher who was sitting in the floor with her red face in anger.

We were speechless while the scream of our classmates instantly shut down. A minute passed by, some instructors and advisers went to our room and even our headmaster.

"What's with the ruckus here?" The headmaster frown, seeing the messy room with some books and papers lying to the ground.

"And what's going on here, Ms. Catacutan?" The other professor ask.

They didn't get a response from her that made my knees trembling in fear and embarrassment as I can imagine the scenario after the time she will speak.

"Uh-oh..... We're all dead meat." I can hear a classmate of mine who's wearing a round sunglasses whispered.

"TO THE GUIDANCE ROOM!! NOW!!" She growl in rage that makes the students run back inside their respective room.

I was about to seek for forgiveness and would confess that it was my own doing but Andgry just hold my wrist and went to the guidance. I bit my lips and I admit, I regret for what I have done.

'I should have listened to Rikkie earlier.' I sighed.

After we shut the door, we were greeted by the headmaster's blank face along with his secretary that was holding a pad, maybe our attendance. Then I flinched when Ms. Catacutan also entered the room.

'Oh... I thought she will stay in her office today but seems like to give us a lecture.'

"Who made you think to do that in your professor?" She ask.

"U-uhh... That's my idea ma'am but that wasn't for yo-"

"Silence!" She exclaim.

"Did your parents make you go to school to learn in such a disrespectful lesson like that?!"

"This is suppose not to involve our parents here-" I was frustrated when she cut my words again, didn't even make me finished.

"I said silence! Do you know the action you made today is an embarrassment?! Think clearly, y'all now isn't a kid anymore to play those things around the room!"

"Madame, please be gentle with them. Hear them out first." The head says.

"I'm very sorry for the cause of this, Professor. I was the one who put that rubber inside his bag. I didn't expect him to throw it away as you already come in. I'm very sorry." I gulp as a sweat run down to my face even in a cold place like this.

"I-I'll make sure it won't happen again!" I added.

"Just be sure of it!" She finally become calm.

"I will! So, can we...go out now? Hihi..?" I let out an awkward smile as my feet step backwards but they just stare at me.

"You may already know that an action would come at price, aren't you?" The head again, asking us.

'There we goes again.' I huffed.

"What's the problem with that?!" Prof clamor that almost makes my soul left to my body.

I let out a blank smile, "What about it anyway?" I dumbly asked, pretending not to understand what they say.

"Dear, you will run for three hours...." Her gentle voice gives me goosebumps.

"On the field!" She really split it.

"What?!" I ask in disbelief.

"You hear me?! Run on the field in three hours!"

"But that was too long!"

"Take it or take it?!"

"And if I refuse?"

"I refuse your refusal." My jaw dropped at her answer, I can also feel that Andgry was holding himself from bursting out laugh.

"Run? Or I'll call your uncle and make you suspended in two months."

"Headmaster!" I let out a beg face as I call him but he just ignored me.

"You'll do it or not?!" Prof continue to ask.

"What?! No, that's too much!"

"Answer!"

"Fine, fine, fineee! I'll run! Just don't let Andgry's mom knows it! I'll be doomed!"

"Then you will be!"

"Please?" I shows her my begging face, she puffed and eventually agree.

"Just be sure to do the consequence you make! I'm going to assign him to the other punishment!" She said then left, I let out a victory smile and decide to went to the field.

But as I open the door, I saw professor still standing, looking at me with a warning look and point her two fingers from her two eyes to mine, telling me that she'll watching me and really left. I hiss and let out a deep breath when someone pat my shoulder.

"Good luck for it." He smiled, telling me that he's fine and we then separate our ways as I was heading toward the field.

*Crriiinnnggggg*

After the three hours of punishment, it's finally a break. I was bathing with my sweat, and even had some running through my body. I didn't expect her to send someone to keep on watch, though I was planning to play around the bush here if it weren't because of ma'am Ramos, the one she send.

"Argh! Damn, I missed another lesson todaaayyy...." I catch my breath and lay on the grass, feeling the air brushed off my wet skin.

"Ms. Scarlette, Get up from there! It's already lunchtime!" I can hear her shout from afar.

"Later!" I answered.

"I gotta go now. I still have some works to do!" I wave at her as she leave.

I got up and sat on the grass when a hands suddenly cover my eyes. I tried to pull it but it was too strong.

"Darn it! Get this huge hands off me!" I frustratedly yell but immediately stop as I sense the familiar perfume.

"If it weren't because of Rikkie, I would have choke you to death already." Andgry whisper behind my ears.

I smiled, "I'm sorry." And he let go.

"Yeah, I know but I can't believe on how the way you talk to Prof. Catacutan earlier. The most scary professor has even got that kind of side. What a life."

"Bruh."

"Dummy! As for you know, I still can't get over on the prank you've done! I will kill you!" I squirm while laughing as he warp his arm around my neck.

"Ahh let go! I'm dying you fool! Aacckkk!" I tap his arm but he didn't let go until we hear another voice.

"Do you guys have a plan to stay here?" Rikkie ask.

"Ahh I forgot! It's already lunchtime! Come on Mei, we might run out of ramen!"

I can hear my stomach rumbling upon hearing the word 'ramen', we immediately dash to the canteen.

We were being welcomed by the noisy people as we entered the canteen. We search for the vacant table and Rikkie saw one, pointing the area which is available for us to occupy.

The two of them went to the counter while I went to the table and sit. Beside our spot was a group of maybe, from the higher grade, talking about funny moments until one of them change the topic.

"Dude, I heard your place is haunted."

I paused and listen to their conversation without getting noticed. I starting to find it excitingly and thrill.

"Ah?"

"Yeah, you know what? We've been there and Danny's right, the atmosphere is different. It was like..... Umm I forgot."

"According to my grandma and my friend, who was an exorcism, that place is where some Diablo resided."

"How can you say so?"

"It is. That place is where evil spirits lived."

"Where does it located anyway?" Another person join the discussion.

"It was near the park. I think you know about Hydra Park. The park that invade half of the space of the city."

Hearing the place, my skin crawl in an unknown reason but still decide to continue to listen to them.

"Remember the incident of the computer laboratory that suddenly explode? At that time, my cousin saw a person who was being chased by monsters or maybe... Demons.

"What?!" Their voices slightly raise, making the other students turn to their direction but didn't mind them after the ruckus they made.

"Yeah. And because of it, he didn't want to leave his room within one week."

"That time was also a body was found ripped in the park."

"What do you think about that person is? Is that the culprit for the explosion? Or the killer?"

"I believe it was done by a demon. Because why would a human tear another body and leave it like that? Knowing that he or she will be trace for leaving a evidence behind!"

"It make sense." The others start to agree.

"Ahh... What about the explosion? Don't tell me it was done by some diabolical creature again?" Another voice sarcastically ask.

"No. Daddy already caught the culprit, with some evidence the suspect left behind."

"Daddy?" Her friends ask with a surprise tone.

"It's the famous detective, Mr. Reaper!" She whispered.

"But why would they do such a thing?"

"It's either he's furious for the grades he get or maybe, a deal with someone."

"What a stupid reason." The boy scoffed.

"We don't know because we're not a detective! It was just a gossip!" Three girls were reacting at his opinion.

An image in my mind suddenly appear for the second time. It was also the same thing Andgry ask me about. The time where that detective ask some questions on me. And also that time, I meet the three of them.

"But you know? Another dead body was found today. And the investigator team found out that it was two bodies but unfortunately, the other one was lost. It said, it was done by a nonhuman being. As I think, it maybe a vampire because the body was dry, as shown in the picture."

"And a mark at his neck. And a bite marks."

"Hah? Ridiculous! How could they knew it was two bodies?! Don't tell me they are the one who bite them?!" The boy who scoffed earlier react again.

"It's part of their job to analyze the incident you punk! Two poster was posted missing! Missing! Get it?!" Another guy answer him.

"What do you mean a vampire?" This time a girl ask.

"I dunno, let's just be careful."

I become dumbfounded by their topic, only to realize that the two already reached the table.

"Mei! They still have my favorite coffee, the one I've been dreaming earlier." Andgry smile widely.

"Hey, you two. I'll be leaving." I said.

"You what?" Rikkie ask in surprise.

"I forgot to say I was absent for the whole day. As a part of the punishment."

"And you'll leave?" Rikkie ask so I decide to lie.

"Uncle need something. This is an urgent so goodbye!" I quickly stood and got out of the chair.

"But-" before Andgry could finish his words, I cut him off.

"Let's talk about it later!" I run towards the exit.

Didn't mind their gaze as the only thing inside my mind right now is to find that place. Even if I need to go out in the campus to search 'them'.
