Chapter 18
After what seemed like an age of aimless wandering around trying to find out where I was supposed to be going, I finally found my dorm room and knocked gently on the open door.
‘Hey Brother, how are you? I’m Chad, pleased to meet you,’ called out a short, stocky and powerfully built young guy as I wandered into the room that would be my home for the next four years.
‘Owyagoin' mate, awright?’ I said in my usual friendly greeting that I had used all my life back home in Australia.
Chad stared blankly back at me and responded, ‘Uh... what language are you speaking, dude? Is that English?’
I laughed and said with a smile, ‘Sorry mate, I’m an Aussie. Just landed and haven’t learned the local lingo yet! I just asked how you’re going. And the name’s Tommy.’
