Chapter 54 I woke to the first rays of morning sun streaming in through the bedroom window, which somehow managed to get me right in the eyes like a solar homing beacon. Clearly the concept of curtains hadn’t caught on everywhere in Ukraine. But still, I can think of worse ways to wake up, with Brittney still in my arms and sound asleep after the exhaustion of her past few days. I carefully snuck out of bed.
