Chapter 40
Finally! A knock at the door! I’d been going crazy in my hotel room all by myself with no company except my addled brain running at hyper speed. I obviously hadn’t quite mastered this Zen business, but in my defence, I don’t know if the old masters had quite as much to deal with as I had on my plate right now. I jumped up off the bed and bounced over to the door. I was full of nervous energy, wound up like a coiled spring ready to rapidly and suddenly unwind with the flick of a switch. I peered through the hole in the door and to my great relief I spotted Viktor looking back at me impassively from the dreary grey corridor, with furtive glances right and left.
