The thought kept rattling through my mind as my horse carried me along the spine of a mountain.
I had thought I could see the expanse of the eastern mountains from Harane. Then I truly believed I had seen the scope of the range from inside the mountains themselves. But as we traveled farther south, there was no hint as to where the mountains might end.
Finn was the first to stop his horse.
“There we are.” Finn soothed his mount.
I looked behind me and watched him jump to the sodden ground before I pulled on the reins of the bay I rode. “Are you all right?”
“We can ride a bit farther.” Liam stopped his horse but didn’t dismount.
“You can also live through being stabbed,” Finn said, “but I don’t fancy trying that, either.”
