“I don’t know.” I leaned closer, pressing my lips to his ear. “But I have a gift he’s sent for you.”
“A gift?” Gabe tipped my chin so my lips brushed against his. He tasted of ale. “What sort of gift would I be sent?”
“Poison to slay a monster.”
“That doesn’t sound like Liam.” He traced his nose across my cheek and nibbled the bottom of my ear.
“It was my idea. A way to keep you in place while getting rid of the beast.”
“I’ve no experience in poison.” He kissed the side of my neck.
I tipped my head to the side, offering more skin for him to explore. “That’s why I’m here. All you have to do is exactly as I say.” I shifted to sit on his lap, draping one arm around his neck.
