40 I slept on the bed while Finn curled up near the fire. Lying under the heavy blankets, I clutched the stone pendant, trying to promise myself I was brave enough to sleep. As the storm’s wrath began again, I finally drifted off. When I woke in the morning, the storm hadn’t changed. So little sun peered through the thickness of the rain, it was nearly impossible to tell day had come at all.
