CHAPTER SEVENTEEN At seven pm, the sky above Finchley was a blazing orange as the sun melted into the horizon. The town moved about as it always did. People were coming home from work in the fields or in nearby Saratoga Springs. Traffic moved at an even pace, as though there was no rush to get anywhere. Finchley was small compared to most towns, with only 800 residents. However, it was like any other town. It had a Town Hall that served as the courthouse and Mayor’s office, the doctor’s office, fire station, and a veterinarian next to each other. The stores, hardware, post office, florist, barbers, furniture, and antiques, were located on Hyde Street, which ran along the park’s left side.
