CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE The silence made Finchley look like something from a nasty video game, or at least a horror movie. Mac and Trent had left in Trent’s pickup. They had driven off with instructions not to stop until they had reached Mac’s place, and then they were to call Charlie Newman at the FBI. Agent Newman wanted a case. Well, now she had one. Nash didn’t expect the cavalry for some time. Hopefully, Mac wouldn’t wait to get to his place to call and would do it on the way. Either way, Newman and her team would be at least two hours later.
