C H A P T E R 10:

Cassandra POV

"Hoy Mii anong nangyari sayo at may pasa ka sa braso?"

"Ah wala naibunggo ko kagabi."

"Huwag mo akong lokohin dahil kitang kita yang pasa mo at halatang kamay ang nakabakat."

Tumahimik na lang ako dahil hindi ako titigilan nitong si Ashley.

"Sabihin mo nga sa akin! Sinaktan ka ba ng asawa mo?" Nagtitimping bulong nito.

"Hoy Alexander Dimaculan ibili mo nga ako ng ice pack." Pag uutos niya kay Alex.

"Huwag na Ash."

Hindi ako pinapansin nito dahil mabilis siyang tumayo para ibigay ang bayad kay Alex. Andito kaming lahat sa mini gym ng building namin dahil may meeting kasama ang lahat ng professor ng college namin.

Nasa harapan si Ashley ng biglang pumasok isa isa ang mga professors namin.

"Good morning Tourism students, I hope ready kayo to present ang ating college and we are here to check on the things kung ready na ba tayo for tomorrow's parade."

May kumatok kaya natahimik ang lahat ng students.

"Sorry Dean I'm late."

"At saan ka galing Mr. Dimaculan?"

"Pinabili lang po ako ng ice pack Dean."

"Okay sit down."

Dumiretso si Alex kung saan kami naka upo at inabot kay Ashley ang ice pack, hindi naman naalis ang mata ng lahat ng naglakad si Ashley papunta sa akin. Napatitig ang lahat sa amin dahil walang sabi sabing umupo ang aking kaibigan sa aking tabi.

"What happen to you miss Ashley?"

"Not me Dean, it's for Cassandra po, may pasa po kasi siya sa braso."

"Okay, you can proceed to what you are doing." Biglang nag iwas ng mata si Ashton ng magtama ang mga mata namin.

"As I was saying, kailangan natin i-check ang booth para sa field at ang department float na maipaparada sa parade bukas. Officers let's proceed sa baba to check on it and the rest I hope na ready kayo sa mga events, goodluck and happy intramurals."

Tumayo na kami ni Ashley dahil pareho kaming officer ng college namin kaya kailangan naming sumama sa baba.

Habang pababa ay maraming tinatanong ang mga professors at ni Dean at kasali na dito ang float namin sa parade.

"Kaninong idea ang float na ginawa niyo? I hope na ma explain niyo ito sa amin mamaya."

"Kay Cassandra po ang idea Dean."

"Okay, explain in detail mamaya miss Cassandra."

"Yes dean."

Tahimik lang akong nakasunod sa mga kasamahan, nasa tabi ko naman si Ashley. Hawak hawak niya ang ice pack sa braso ko.

"Mii please lang naman, ipagtanggol mo ang sarili mo. Parang awa mo na."

Naiiyak niyang sabi sa akin.

"I'm sorry Ash if I made you worry, hindi na ito mauulit I promise."

"Dapat lang noh. Tara bilisan natin at nahuhuli na tayo."

Nasa harapan na kami ng booth at pinapaliwanag ni Ashley ang purpose ng booth namin.

"This booth is called Travel and tours, it was discuss by our student council that is why we came up with this theme which is to promote different souvenirs from different places here in our country. Some of the souvenirs are sponsored by some of the student council which they prefer not to mention their names. This is a booth for a cause, the earnings will be donated at one of the orphanage here in Laguna. Mabibigyan po ng opportunity ang mga bata na makapag aral. Also, napag usapan na rin po namin ang prices ng mga products na ginawa naming budget friendly but at the same time an authentic items na hindi magsisisi ang mga bibili. We also made it like that because we were notified that there might be students who want to buy na galing sa labas ng ating university or from other School. At kaya naging Travel and Tours dahil papanindigan natin na we are from Tourism department. That's all, thank you."

"I'm glad that maganda ang kinalabasan ng idea niyong ito, congratulations and good work everyone."

Ngayon naman ay papunta kami sa may gate dahil malapit dito kung nasaan ang aming float.

Nagpaharap na ako upang ipaliwanag ang naturang float na aming ginawa.

"It is a beach resort, different beautiful places, and an airport inspired float because airport symbolizes our college, naglagay din kami ng airplane para sa simple touch ng airport because an airport without an airplane is useless, like there is airplane but no pilot. Beach resort and iba't ibang places para naman makita nila na Tourism department values different places na kanilang napupuntahan. That's all."

"Okay, that was a nice idea, hindi ko inaasahang you would make it magical, it's great na binigay namin sa inyo ang responsibilidad dahil hindi niyo kami binigo. Good work and you may go. Please stay Miss Cassandra."

Naiwan kami ni Ashley kahit na ako lang ang pina iwan ni Dean and I know Ashley is just worried about me.

"How is the preparation for the pageant miss Cassandra?"

"All good Ma'am, everything's in place and ready na for the event."

"That's all and also be careful next time."

Sabi nito at tumingin sa pasa ko na may konti pang marka.

Nag bow kami ni Ashley at umalis na sa harapan nila. Kung nagtataka kayo, hindi ko tinitignan si Ashton pero ramdam ko ang mga mapanuri niyang tingin.

Sa mga sumunod na araw ay nagkanya kanya kami dahil we need to check every event if complete ang aming mga players, good thing is that the officers are all responsible and they did a good job for taking care of all the participants and players of different events. Here I am waiting in the backstage dahil pagkatapos ng performers ay tatawagin kami sa stage to announce the top 5.

"Mii, kahit anong maging resulta nito ay ikaw parin ang number 1 para sa akin but I know that you will be the Miss Intramurals 2023." Naka ngising turan ni Ashley

"Alam mo Ashley sasapakin kita kung hindi lang ako naka make up and gown, nakakawala ng poise iyang ginagawa mo hahaha"

Tumayo na ako ng marinig kong natapos na ang performers na nasa stage.

"May we call on stage our miss Intramurals candidates!"

Dahil dito ay samu't saring sigawan ang maririnig sa loob ng stadium.

"Here in my hand is the result for our top 5. Are you guys ready?" Sigaw ng mc.

Dumagundong naman sa sigaw ang mga supporters galing sa iba't ibang department.

"I will announce the top 5 chronologically. Please step forward candidate number.... number 1!!"

Dumadagundong ang cheer at sigaw ng mga kasama ko at kita ko ang saya sa mukha ng aming mga professors. I did not expect to be called first but it's good para mabawasan ang kaba na aking nararamdaman.

Sunod sunod na tinawag ang top 5 which is candidate number 9 from criminology department, candidate number 15 from engineering department, candidate number 4 from the department of nursing and last but not the least is candidate number 6 from accountancy department.

"And now let's proceed to the question and answer portion. Everyone of you will answer the same question, but while number 1 is answering, you are given a headphone with a loud music playing. Please step forward candidate Number 1. Your question is What is the essence of intramurals?"

"Thank you, The best trait you can develop in it is sportsmanship. The ability to gain respect of everybody, to win the hearts and accolades and be able to become a friend to everyone as you engage yourself in that particular sport, regardless of winning or losing the game. That's all and I thank you"

Pagkatapos kong sumagot ay hiyawan at palakpakan ang mga supporters ko. Napangiti naman ako at tinignan sila isa isa.

Sunod sunod namang natapos ang lahat ng top 5 and I can say that all of us did our best to make our supporters proud.

"Are you ready for the result?!!!! Let me hear your cheers!"

Kanya kanyang sigaw naman ang mga students dito sa stadium and it makes me nervous.

"Okay, the result is in my hand so everyone brace yourself for I'll be announcing our miss Intramurals 2023."

"Fourth Runner up please step forward candidate number.... number 9, congratulations!!"

"Third runner up please step forward candidate number 4, congratulations!"

"Second runner up please step forward candidate number 6, congratulations!"

"And now our miss Intramurals 2023 is candidate number... number 1 from the the department of tourism congratulations! For our first runner up is candidate number 4, congratulations everyone!"

"This his your host Haji Del Cien, signing off, goodnight everyone."

Matapos akong makoronahan ay lumapit ang aking mga ka-department, I saw our Dean smiling that made me smile more.

"Miiii, you won congratulations!"

Walang pag aatubiling niyakap ako ng aking kaibigan.

Everyone congratulated me pati na rin ang ibang candidates. My first experience is indeed memorable for I am crowned miss Intramurals 2023.
