Keeping silent and trying to mask my scent, we made good time.
As we approached the spot, two wolves walked forward and another in human form. They all bowed to us.
"Luna, Beta." The warrior in human form said to us. I smiled at her in return. “Thank you for helping us.” I said to all three while looking them in the eye. They bowed again and the one in human form smiled at me. “It is our privilege to Luna.” I looked at Alex and raised an eyebrow.
‘Luna?’ I asked him, but he shrugged.
‘You are the rightful Luna.’ Is all he said. I turned back to the three warriors.
"Any sign of them?" I asked, scanning the area across the border.
"None Luna." Her calling me that bugged me but I let it go. I had to be the Luna for now and when the pack was free I could give that title up.
"We are here." A dark voice said from the border. Peeling himself from the darkness of the night, a tall man with dark hair and piercing green eyes walked forward. I smiled as I recognized the Alpha of the Black moon pack.
Bowing slightly to him I greeted him. "Thank you for meeting Alpha Xavier."
A low growl from next to him drew my eyes. Another man walked forward, looking at me with death glares.
"I think we should still turn her over." The man spoke and I bristled at his hatred.
"Who are you?" I asked. Not worried about what was going to happen. Alex had stepped forward and growled but a small flick of my hand stopped him.
"Chuck." Xavier growled at the man. "Remember your place." Xavier turned to me. "Forgive my Gamma. He forgets himself sometimes."
I nodded to Xavier. "Nothing to forgive. It is understandable that there will be doubt of who I am, with our Alpha having accepted the false Luna at the last ball."
Xavier tilted his head. "Yes. I was there for that and what happened in the woods." He smiled, a pity smile though. "I heard, saw, and felt your mate call. There is no doubt to me that you are the Luna and true mate to Dante. I have watched him fall in the last two years, he needs help."
Growling low, I could not let that go. "Our alpha has not fallen. We are still strong enough to handle things."
"Then why do you seek us?" Chuck spat at me. "I guess the Luna isn't able to protect her pack, maybe that is why Dante chose another."
I stepped forward, growling low at the Gamma. "Do you only spout nonsense or do you not have a brain in there Gamma?"
Chuck lunged for me but Alex was there. Chuck stopped short of Alex and glared at us both. "Need protection?" He spat at me. I looked at Xavier who watched in silence and did not seem ready to intervene. It was a test.
Putting a hand on Alex's shoulder, I pushed past him. Smiling at him, I let him know it was ok. Ignoring Chuck, I walked past him and headed towards the border. Alex tensed as I approached Xavier.
"Let's stop this little test." I said. "We came here to make a pact. It will benefit both of our packs by doing it."
Xavier raised an eyebrow "what authority do you have to do this pact?" He asked.
I lifted my head up and let my power out. Even with my wolf locked away, I still was powerful. "I am the true Luna and mate to Dante. That is the authority."
Xavier nodded but Chuck growled. Chuck went for me then and being closer to me now, he reached me faster than anyone else.
I ducked his swipe and kicked him in his mid area. Punching upwards, I broke his nose and then threw him over my shoulder.
"Bitch." He spat from the ground. "You are not a Luna."
I roared at the sky and asked my wolf to show my scars and other injuries. She sighed, the first time I heard her in two weeks.
I felt the pain come and my body revealed the damage. Scars appeared on my face and arms. Bruises surfaced in a multitude of colors around my head, neck, hands, and arms. Blood welled up from cuts that had been taken by my wolf and now were refreshed on my human body.
Everyone around me gasped and I glared down at Chuck.
"I have suffered for this pack, been beaten, r***d, and almost died for this pack. I am the true Luna and will not let a mutt like you deny this. This," I pulled my shirt off and stood in front of everyone in only my bra. Turning slowly for all to see the scars, bruises, and brands of my torture I growled out. "This is what I have already endured for my pack. Now," I squatted in front of Chuck, "tell me I am not the Luna again." I growled the last part with a promise of death in it.
Chuck gulped and scrambled back from me. Xavier looked at me, something in his eyes but they were guarded. I lifted my hand to Alex who placed the paper in it. Reaching Xavier, I extended my hand with the paper.
"The tentative terms of the pact are here. Look over it and let me know by next evening at midnight if you agree."
Xavier took the paper and handed it to Chuck. "I agree." Xavier said.
Blinking in surprise I said again, "you can look over it."
"No," Xavier said. "If you have come here, even after that, then there is no need to deliberate. Whatever terms you set, I'll agree to it."
I knew what Xavier meant by that. The cruelty of my torture had effected him more than I thought.
I nodded. "Thank you. My Beta, Alex, will be in charge of communication. We will talk again soon." Xavier nodded then blended back into the shadows.
Chuck and other wolves went back to the darkness as well. Chuck glared at me as he faded away.
