The girl on the forest floor was dirty; torn clothes on her body. Bruises were already forming and the scent coming off her made a growl come from the Beta.
Alexander was the Beta of the pack and had done what we needed, but he did not like it. Jason started rising from the ground where the girl had dropped him.
She was impressive with her fighting and power. Even injured and clearly hurting, she managed to easily drop Charlie. Jason was not a big threat and did not count.
Jason stood over the girl and sneered at her. “Bitch.” He said and was about to kick her when Alexander stopped him.
“Stop,” he commanded. “Just take her where the alpha said.” Jason nodded and roughly grabbed the girl.
Alexander stopped him right as he passed. “I also know what you did.” Alxander growled.
Jason sneered at the Beta, but quickly looked away realizing his mistake.
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Jason said.
“We can smell you all over her.” Alexander said and looked at the girl in his arms. “She does not look like she willingly agreed either.”
Jason turned red. “She is mine and what we do together is none of your business, doesn’t matter who you are.” Jason walked away from me.
Alexander sighed and turned. Dismissing everyone else, he walked to the other man. Alpha Xander was a powerful alpha and a close ally of ours. Or used to be, before Vanessa.
“What do you think?” Alexander asked, looking over the area and watching as Charlie final woke up.
“I think that girl is important.” Xavier said in a low voice. “She claims Dante as her mate.”
Nodding, Alexander agreed. “Yes, but let us talk later.” Alexander eyed Charlie who was looking around, a low growl in his voice.
Charlie finally got up and looked at the two men. “Where is she?” He demanded.
Alexander and Xavier raised their eyebrows. “That is no way to talk.” Alexander chastised.
Charlie bowed his head. “I am sorry, just upset.”
“Go wash up. I will deal with getting the guests settled in rooms or sent home.” Alexander said. He motioned for Xavier to go ahead of him. “I presume you will be staying?”
Xavier nodded. “Yes.”
Alexander followed, his thoughts about what happened in turmoil but as they neared the pack house, one thought became clear. That girl needed to be rescued and then she could rescue Dante.
I woke with a major headache and my body hurt in different ways. A pounding was going through my body as I tried to wake up fully. Something heavy was on me and I tried to push it off, but my hands were grabbed. Opening my eyes, I realized that the pounding was someone r****g me.
I cried out but a slap to my face shut me up.
“Quiet bitch.” Jason’s seething voice growled above me. I struggled to get him off me but he slapped me again. My body refused to work and I was helpless.
I called out to my wolf but she did not answer.
After Jason was done, I was left on the mattress. I rolled my head, looking around. The room was small, a lead door on one side, a small red light hanging from the ceiling, and rusty colored walls were around me. I was on a filthy mattress in the middle of the floor. Only a stool and a bucket were in the room.
Jason turned to look at me, a sneer on his face. “I told you, you would regret rejecting me.”
I watched as he came towards me and as he kicked me I barely felt the pain. Wincing, I curled into a ball as Jason beat me.
“Stop.” A voice called from the doorway. Hope welled for a moment, but then disappeared as I realized who it was.
Vanessa stood there, a look of disgust and triumph on her face.
“Well, hello.” She said to me in her snake like voice. “Are you enjoying your stay?” Vanessa kneeled in front of me and I barely had the strength to look up at her.
“You will stay here for a long time, being destroyed in every way.” Grabbing my hair, she pulled me up. “I will not let you go, you belong to me just like everyone else in this stupid pack. I am the one true Luna.”
Her words were not making sense to me, only her anger towards me. “Why?” I croaked out.
She laughed and dropped my head. “Because I want power, and this was the easiest way.”
Vanessa scrunched her nose and turned. “Ugh, this place disgusts me. Do what you wish.” She told Jason as she left.
Jason started hurting me again and soon r****g me. I stared at the ceiling, internally calling for my mate to save me. Anyone to save me. I could not connect with anyone in the pack link. My heart dropped and I blacked out once more.
A loud bang woke me and I looked over at the door. Food in a tray was sitting on the floor in front of the door. My stomach growled but I did not want food. I wanted to die.
After a few hours someone came back to get the tray. When they noticed I did not eat, they grabbed me. I was forced fed and when they left I threw it up in the bucket.
My wolf was not with me anymore and I could not cry. Everyone abandoned me. As I curled into a ball, I smelt a new smell. One of spring days and sunshine. I felt the stirring of the mate bond inside me and my wolf poked her head up.
'Mate.' Laura weakly said and came to the forefront. I called her and she sighed. 'Forgive me, I am weak. The start of the bond breaking and then this, I am taking your pain.'
She went silent after that, her weak voice fading to the back of my mind again.
The door opened and in the doorway stood my mate.
Alpha Dante looked down at me, but there was no emotion in his face. He closed the door behind him and sat on the stool. I just stared at him, the mate bond pulling at me but not as strong. Curled into a ball on the dirty mattress, I just waited. He stared at me but also through me.
“Why?” He asked, his voice sending waves through me. Being near him gave me a little strength.
“Why what?” I gasped out, barely able to talk. “Why am I here? Or why do you allow them to abuse me?”
Alpha raised his eyebrows at that, some light coming back into his eyes. “What?” He looked around for a moment then narrowed in on me. Sparks erupted on my skin at his look, but then they died down when his look went blank again.
“Why did you kill April?” He said, his voice monotone.
I glared at him. “How about you ask Vanessa, as she was the one that killed her.”
Whack.
Alpha hit me across the face. “Don’t you speak about your Luna like that.” Blood seeped from my split lip and I just glared at him. Tears I thought I could not shed anymore started to fall. Alpha sighed and stood up. He left without a word to me.
That became my cycle. Jason in the morning, food being forced down my throat, Vanessa taunting, and then my mate coming to visit.
I don’t know how many days this happened, but eventually, Alpha and Vanessa stopped visiting me. It was only Jason and the food keeper now.
I felt nothing anymore, not even cold, hunger, nothing. Numbness was inside me. I knew now what my wolf had been saying. She was taking all the hurt, the pain, the scars, and leaving me behind with nothing. That was the only way to survive. I might have died already if not for her.
I could not even be grateful to her as we could not talk.
