Chapter 2: Shadows in London
London’s weather was gloomy as Maya walked her two boys, Ayan and Rohan, to school. She didn’t notice the figure watching her from a distance—a man cloaked in the shadows of a narrow alley. Arjun had arrived in London, and he had waited for this moment for five long years.
In the past years, Arjun had become something different. His face was gaunt, eyes hollow, and his once charming smile twisted by hatred. The secrets he had learned in those years away had transformed him, granting him powers he barely understood. He knew only one thing for sure—he wanted Maya to pay. His desire for revenge had brought him to this cold, foreign city.
Arjun followed Maya discreetly, studying her life and the family she had built. Each day, he observed her routine: the school drop-off, grocery shopping, then home to her drunk husband. In the evenings, he saw Maya’s husband stumble in late, reeking of alcohol. Arjun’s hatred deepened as he saw the woman who had humiliated him now trapped in a life far from the perfection she had once seemed to represent.
One stormy night, Arjun decided it was time. He gathered the tools of his new dark craft—strange powders, mysterious herbs, and candles with wicked scents. Arjun performed the first of his dark rituals, calling on spirits to seek out and torment Maya from afar. Strange things began to happen in Maya’s home. Objects moved on their own, whispers echoed in the hallways, and the children cried out in their sleep, haunted by nightmares.
Maya’s husband, oblivious to his wife’s fear, was caught up in his own affair. He paid no attention as Maya grew pale and restless. She knew something was wrong, but the source of the evil eluded her. One night, when her husband was out drinking with his mistress, the haunting became unbearable. Maya awoke to a freezing chill in her bedroom, feeling a presence she couldn't see but knew was there. A shadow moved at the corner of her vision, and she felt something—or someone—brush against her neck.
Terrified, Maya sought help. She reached out to friends, but they dismissed her fears as stress. She tried to keep her children safe, but the dark force grew stronger with every passing day. Desperate, she confided in her husband, but he simply laughed and told her she was losing her mind.
Meanwhile, Arjun’s power continued to grow. His rituals became more elaborate, the black magic feeding off his obsession and hatred. But as he watched Maya from the shadows, he realized that something had changed—she was no longer the girl who had humiliated him years ago. Her face, once so carefree, was lined with worry and exhaustion. Yet, his thirst for revenge was not satisfied. In his twisted mind, her suffering was not enough. He wanted to end her life and see the agony in her eyes before she took her final breath.
Then, one evening, as the storm raged outside, Arjun received the sign he had been waiting for—the spirits whispered to him that the time had come. In the darkness, Arjun set out to confront Maya and begin the final phase of his terrible revenge.
