Into The Snare
Edward lay on his back in the grass, watching the stars wink out one by one as low-racing storm clouds tumbled across the sky from the west.
“Wind’s picking up,” Bryce whispered.
“Yes,” I replied. “If we stay out here the rest of the night, we shall all be soaked by the approaching rainstorm.”
“Or struck by lightning,” Edward said. “I’m afraid that nature is forcing our hand. We must either enter the mansion or retreat to the village.”
Bryce rolled onto his side, facing Edward. His whisper was sharp and earnest. “I say, let’s break in and rescue the girls now!”
