Chapter 2: Moving In With A Billionaire

329 Words
The next morning, a black Rolls-Royce was waiting outside my tiny apartment. "You are late, Mrs. Knight," Adrian said, looking at his Rolex. He was wearing a suit that probably cost more than my entire apartment building. "I'm not your wife yet," I snapped. "You signed. You are." He opened the car door. "From today, you live with me. My grandfather is coming for dinner tonight. You need to learn how to be a billionaire's wife in 8 hours." His penthouse was not a house. It was a palace in the sky. Floor-to-ceiling windows, marble floors, and a view of all of New York. "Rule number 1," he said coldly as I dropped my small bag on his $20,000 sofa. "Don't touch anything. Rule number 2: Don't enter my bedroom without permission. Rule number 3: Remember Clause 5. Don't fall in love with me." "Don't worry," I said, my heart beating fast. "I would never fall for a cold robot like you." He suddenly stepped closer, backing me against the wall. His face was inches from mine. I could feel his breath. "Really?" he whispered, his cold grey eyes darkening. "Then why is your heart beating so fast, Elena?" I couldn't breathe. His cologne, his body, his dominance... He smirked and stepped back, leaving me shaking. "Get dressed. My stylist is coming. You can't meet my grandfather looking like a waitress." That night, I learned two things. One, Adrian Knight's grandfather was the sweetest old man alive. And two, Adrian Knight was hiding a secret so dark, it would destroy us both. When his grandfather asked how we met, Adrian grabbed my hand under the table. His hand was warm. Strong. "We met at the hospital," I said softly. "He saved me." Adrian looked at me, surprised. For the first time, his cold eyes softened for just one second. And in that one second, I knew I was in trouble. Clause 5 was going to be impossible to keep.
