NELLY’S HANDS PUSHED the glass door, the bell jangling overhead in celebration of her freedom. The hot, Caribbean sun bathed her in a warm glow and she welcomed the heat. Though the air conditioner had been buzzing inside the ice cream shop, the anxiety of being held at gunpoint had made the cold extremely uncomfortable.
